I was wondering, between all the different models, A-1 A-2 X-1 etc... what are the differences besides blue rays and the different HDD configs...
and I dont really care for the backpack or mouse...

Is there any difference in the Displays or anything else??? even any small differences??? Is there a huge differences in the price of the different models as well???

I love this laptop, I want it to father my children haha jk
just need help differing the different models.
    Any help would be great.

Models with 1080p screens will have the Hannstar Full-HD panel

Models with 1600x900 screens will have either LG (better) or AUO HD+ panels (Neither is better than the Hannstar qualitywise)

In the US, they all come with i7 720QM standard, Europe has an i5 option.

Single drive configs will come with only one HDD bracket. (unless the gods are pleased with you)

Unless the retailer specifies, it's a toss-up whether you will get 1066 or 1333 RAM.

Other than that, they're the same, except whether you can use Cat 10.3+ or not ;)

Is having 1080p screen really that noticeable when you are gaming?

That really depends on the game. I play alot of RPGs, so a wider screen means more icons for quick selects and toolbars.

Plus in another thread I mentioned how the viewing angles is superior on the Hannstar Full HD panel compared to the usual HD+ offerings.

OTOH, a smaller screen does offer potentially more fps. How many more? Depends on game and drivers.

No it wont. Additionally, it will stress the card less down the road when you don't have to continue to run new games at 1920x1080 on your laptop.

If you want to run a non-native res on a 1920x1080 screen then go ahead but it will look like crap compared to running @ a native 1600x900.

If you want the 1080 screen get it for movies/design/photoshop type work. It is not really a plus for gaming in my opinion. Especially with a card which is quite strong, but still based on the 5770 desktop processor.

I use a 1080p display for doing design/video editing and my 1600x900 for games. Now, I get the best of both worlds, but for gaming I prefer the 1600x900 resolution (Mine is the LG screen and it is great - so I cant speak for the other one)

Depending on what you need in a computer, each model is amazing.

If you need a full replacement desktop that can do everything - go with the blue ray high end model.

If you don't need blu-ray etc... get the one without it.

If you want a straight up gaming laptop (which is why I got it) and already have all the other bells and whistles in a desktop or outside system - get the Best buy one for $1199

Good luck and enjoy your G73

Best buy also has a more expensive model of the G73 but I would just go to another retailer at that point. Only reason I got mine at Best buy was because they are the only ones that carry the cheaper version which is what I was looking for.

Only the 1600x900 ones can come with a bad one. And when I say can, i mean, as a chance.

There is a big thread about it, but there is the crappy AUO and the good LG.

If you get any G73 that has the 1080p screen your guaranteed a good screen and all of which are made from Hannstar. Only complaint I had, this was on my x3 and A2 was the backlight bleed, and this does not seem to stem from the LCD itself, but from the frame surrounding it.

When I applied pressure around the bezel it would fade away most of the bleed. So I dunno why not many complain, but while the screen had great colors, great everything just about. When in a dark scene or dark part of game I could easily see the bleed and it was driving me nuts.

Other than that, yeah AUO is the worst and only if you get the 1600x900 model in which there is a thread to know in advance using the serial numbers.

    oh gotcha.

The Best Buy RB05 and RB09, then a few UK models too, but dunno their last numbers.

The A1,A2,X1,X2,X3 all have the 1080p.

The A1, A2, X1, X2, and X3 all come with the 1920x1080 screen from one manufacturer, Hannstar.

The Best Buy RBBX05 model comes with a 1600x900 screen from one of two manufacturers, LG (better), and AUO (worse). We've not heard much of anything about the other Best Buy model that comes w/ a 1600x900 screen (RBBX09), probably because it costs $400 more for apparently just 2GB more RAM and one more 500GB hard drive.

Just read the laptop specs from the website you are going to buy it and it will say if its 1080 or 900p.

If you are crazy about screens and want the screen to look the best it can look ( in terms of screen viewing pleasure, i dont know if you get that lol) get the 1080. If you dont care that much about the screen quality and you just wanna kick some butt, get the 900p.
