I'd like to disable my touchpad when a mouse is plugged in. I lookd for the option but didn't see it under Mouse settings. I tried to install the latest touchpad driver from the G74 page at Asus, but it said it wasn't correct for my hardware. Can anyone help me out?

Idk if it is the same on yours as mine. But what i do to disable it
Start - Type in "mouse" - Click "Mouse" - Click "Device Settings" (Might have a red icon on it) - Click "Settings" - Click "Tapping" - Uncheck "Enable Tapping" -

You can toggle it on and off using the F keys, typically F9

EDIT: Apologies. I misread your post.

I never installed a driver for the touchpad, so the F9 is not working and there is also no option for Device Settings under Mouse settings. As I said, I tried to install the mouse driver on the asus site, but it said I had the wrong hardware. Can someone point me to the right touchpad driver for the G74SX-BBK7?

They actually have 4 different touch pad drivers on the ASUS support site for the G74SX here. Did you try all downloading all of the drivers under the touchpad category to see if any work or did you just try one?

Brett, I think that was the issue, I assumed all 4 were the same driver with different revisions, but the lowest one is different. Thanks!

this will add the autodisable feature to the Synaptic driver, assuming you have that one. -
