I have an Asus G1 that has been working great until now. I have a small problem where at random times, I see red pixels where there shouldn't be any, or all white areas on the screen turn into a thatched blue color/pattern. At first I was afraid the display or GPU might be dying, but I don't think that's it since I took screenshots when the corruption was present, and they look clean when viewed on another system. The monitor doesn't normally have issues, except when that glitch occurs. Furthermore, whenever it does happen, I can "fix" it by adjusting the screen angle (moving the hinge). This leads me to think that it is a contact issue, perhaps with the video cable. Does this explanation sound reasonable? Has anyone else had such a problem?

Yep it sounds like it's probably the LVDS cable, you should be able to find a replacement fairly easily on feebay.

I found some LVDS cables online, listed for both the G1 and G1S. I hope that would work.

However, before ordering, I opened up the "fake hinge" panel below the screen where the cable plugs into the motherboard, dusted it off and jiggled it a bit, in case it was just a bad contact issue. So far, I'm not getting any video issues, even if I try. Let's see if the fix lasts.

I've been very happy with this system and I hope to get another few years of use out of it.
