I think there should be a separate series of choices for those that overclocked theirs, and then you can just add those problem % lines together yourself easily.

I'm not saying that people shouldn't be able to overclock without having issues, but I noticed that several people in the problem results were people who had overclocked and posted the benchmarks. Some people from the "ASUS G73JH-A1 with ATi Mobility Radeon HD 5870 1GB GDDR5 " thread that have had problems but did not participate in this poll (at least not yet that I've seen) , had also overclocked to post benchmarks.

Again, I'm not saying that people shouldn't be able to overclock safely or that it is to blame for their issues. In fact several people experiencing lockups stated that it was locking before they did anything, even just running the screensaver or reinstalling the OS. I just think it would be better to graph those who overclocked since it is valid data, at least for me. A problem with that is that it relies on honesty though. I don't know how many people who have a broken laptop are going to admit they took some risk in pushing its limits, and be honest whether it was faulty out of the box or not but all the same I think it would be good to graph that.

When i play the game piggy( pre installed by asus), when i jump the pig, a black line runs across the screen. Anyone else have this problem?

i have no other games besides the pre installed games on this laptop so i can't use others to test....

seems to be good except for the touchpad is really crappy when it comes to sensitivity , it comes and goes, sometimes it wont sense my finger at all.

cd drive is sooooo slow, trying to install games on this takes forever because of it. ive never had a laptop have a drive this slow.

as for doing a clean install on a new drive how do you get all the drivers reinstalled, seems like i have to install each device individually, strange , seems like it would have a setup.exe on the support cd

I'll be voting "Other" also, as mine would constantly lockup. It has since been returned.

As you pointed out, Piggly was only available as part of the original factory install. When I played Piggly I too noticed the same horizontal line every time the pig jumped.

If you use the Recovery disc, when it finishes it will ask you for the Drivers disc and it will proceed from there.

Alternative number one, if you already have the OS installed from other sources, you should be able to put the drivers disc in and double-click "InstAll.exe" and it will install most everything.

Alternative number two, once you have the reinstalled OS running, go to Explorer and with the drivers disc in the drive click the DVD drive to launch the autorun.inf. I think it's dangerous, but Autorun is the default behavior for opening disc contents with Explorer.

Only with the original factory install are the extra games available. They are accessible by going to the Start menu and clicking Games. Provided that I can read my own handwriting; besides the 11 Microsoft games, Asus also included:

    1. Alice Greenfingers 2
    2. Chicken Invader 2
    3. Dream Day Wedding Married In Manhattan
    4. Island Wars 2
    5. Piggly
    6. Smileyville

The games were supplied by Oberon Media's IPlay. In addition, Asus included the "Game Park Console" which is a mini and limited version of the IPlay site. None of the games are free.

Thanks for the info, It did ask for the other disk when it was reinstalling windows, I stuck it in and it copied everything it needed and after what seemed an eternity (slow cd drive read i guess) it finally finished, but when i started the newly installed windows it was loaded with generic driver, trying to get the ati display driver installed was a pain but it finally worked. still there are alot of things missing, it did not install any software like what is needed for the keyboard lighting and the sound drivers arent right.

Yep, that has happened to me too and I don't have any idea why it happens other than to say it's a timing problem. Before returning my G73 back to the place of purchase due to frequent lockup/crashing, in an attempt to fix the problem I re-installed everything four times.

Of those, three re-installs appeared to install everything. Like you, one install had several missing drivers. And, all four re-installs showed the Intel ChipSet drivers as possibly failed to install correctly, although they appeared to install fine.

My only suggestion is to try it again and see if the second time around is the charm.

Oh and speaking of sound, if you plan to use the HDMI connector there also appears to be a problem with the Realtek HDMI driver and the ATI HDMI driver.

I got mine from B&H Photo in NY, works great, had it for about a week now. (I hope I'm not jinxing myself).

There was one odd thing, however, I connected the PC to my TV via HDMI, playing World in Conflict, and I could not move the camera to pan down...worked fine on the notebook display though...weird.

I even added 8GB RAM and it recognized all 12GB right away. Didn't do much with the computer beforehand to know if it even made much of a difference.

Mine BLAZES cuz I replaced the HDDs with SSDs. My Windows Index is 6.2, limited by hard drive speed, and everything else is 7+. I have never seen a faster computer. Still have to install Crysis and see what happens, though...
