I think it does as I had a 12.5mm HDD in my Netbook and stuck it in my JH but I didn't have the maintenance panel on mine. Although the problem was also that the caddy was a different height so you will need to either mod the caddy or use some sponge to keep the HDD in place.

Although I think it was slow the HDD I had you are better off picking up a 9.5mm 2.5 inch 500GB 7200RPM for your secondary drive they are quite cheap nowadays if you are looking for storage.

I'm not quite sure the G53 can fit a 12.5mm drive, the G73s can, but they have the extra room for the drive, the insides of the G53 are a little more cramped so i'm not certain it would fit. I don't have a G53 to confirm this, but Chastity probably knows for sure. Chastity chimes in from time to time in gaming Asus so you'll probably hear from Chas eventually.

Yes, the G53 can take a 12.5 HDD. Done it myself. Just stick some fluffy pads to keep the hdd fixed in there.

Thank you guys for your reply...i really appreciate that. Well, if the HDD is slower according to Yiddo i am not gonna buy then. I am planning to buy at least 750gb with 7200rpm.

Keep your 500GB and buy a SSD (120GB) instead. You'll be blown away by the improvement.

12.5mm does not in any way mean slow lol. Just look at WD VelociRaptors.

OS on ssd (along with all your programs, including games) while the rest of your data (movies, pictures, music, etc) on your 500GB drive.

Guys does anyone have any idea about the Hybrid hard drive? SSD 120GB will cost me at least £120, but i can get one 500gb hybrid (Seagate Momentus XT) by the same money. so which one is worth buying???

For the chipset driver, get them from Intel, same for the SATA drivers.
