    Hey guys,

So a few months back I purchased a G750JX and it's a pretty pimped out model. However it's recently been acting up and yesterday after installing the latest Nvidia driver, I'd say one of my problems is gone (my C drive was filling up for no reason). The second problem lies with the lack of performance I'm getting from the fans. I downloaded HW monitor a few hours ago after it shut down twice (the sort of shutdown where it goes completely dead) when I was rendering videos and as I had suspected, it was an overheating issue... my temps at IDLE are hitting high 60s! that's preposterous. Now I have a deadline to meet and I need to beable to operate this thing and render my videos knowing it won't die on me again. The only solution I could think of is changing the rpm of the fans.. a little bit of noise won't matter as long as it stays on..

I've been on google, searching the rog forums, and all the big tech forums and I can't find a tutorial on how to go through and modify my fans' speeds. Anyone with some information that can help me out here would be GREATLY appreciated!!

EDIT: Just as an FYI, I tried MSI afterburner, and speedfan - both to no avail :/

    Thanks in advance!!

There is no way to take control of your fans! If your Idle temps are in the 60's you have a problems that needs to be repaired My Ambient temp stays around 24C my Idle temps High 30's to low 40's. You can try to blow the dust out of your system perhaps that will allow your temps to come down otherwise it sounds like your up for a Repasting? Sounds like your CPU and or GPU is throttling to protected itself. I know this isn't what you want to hear. If your in warranty RMA if not find a repair shop you can trust.

I'm definitely still under warranty. Other thing is.. I don't think the fans are even turning on any more... ?!!

Besides cleaning up your heatsink, vent, and repasting of thermal compound. Out of curiosity, can you try his tool? It may not work but just want to give it a shot since there isn't other option at the moment.

I figure something's wedged in there because they've literally stopped dead... and it's kinda worrying i'm not going to lie. If I open it to clean up will it void my warranty?? Also, if it doesn't, could you please link me to a video tutorial of how to get it done?

EDIT: Utility linked above does NOT work.. thanks anyways!

Hwinfo64 will show you exactly what your fans are doing. Will also tell you exactly what your GPU and CPU are doing also.

I know way to test if fans work. There i s utility that can set fans on G73 series to full. Only way to reset them is to power off laptop and power it on but that way you would test if they spin at all couse they make noise when they spin on max. I believe it can be used on G75 series to.

You can open up the system to clean as long as no physical damages are inflicted without voiding your warranty.
However, if the fan is truly bad, then it's best to contact ASUS for warranty service.

Yeah if the fan has stopped, then send it in.

However you could try the older drivers first to see if that really was having an impact.

Yes you would void your warranty if you repaste. I think If your real careful you could do the clean out. I would still recommend that you run Hwino64 sensors only. You will be able to determine if your fans are working correctly or at all. At max cooling they'll run close to 4000 RPM At 60C you might not hear them running at only 2000 to 2500 RPM

Okay so sorry for the late replies,
    1. I know I have to send it in its just that I have a very strict deadline by which I need to render a 2 hour video..
    2. HWiNFO gave me nothing about the fans, I'll edit in a screenshot in a fee minutes (on my phone atm)
    3. Meaker could you please clarify what you mean by old drivers?? As in which ones should I download?

Also as an update.. I'm rendering the video unplugged (lower clock speed, lower temps.. but also lower performance :/ ) with an eta of about 5 hours (20% in) and my idle stands at more or less 60 and my room's AC is set to 20 degrees atm, however I'm trying to bring it down to 15 in hopes that it'll help... I'm freezing my butt off for this thing to work. If I plug it in, I rocket to 95+ and within 5 minutes it shuts down.

Any ideas aside from bring it to service? I'll do that.. I just need something for right now until that phase comes about. Does anyone know how to limit the Cpu usage of premiere cs6 when rendering? I have to plug it at some point or else I'll run out of battery and if I can reduce how hard it's hitting the Cpu, perhaps it can reduce the toll??

    Wow, you are pretty determined.
But you don't have to do this, get a laptop cooling pad then it should help the most, see below.

You could use throttle stop to lock the CPU at a certain multiplier preventing it from going over whatever you set (like .8ghz 2.4 etc)

Cooling mats do little or no effect, lifting the back with nothing under it but some tiny stands to hold it up is more effective

There are no drivers, they are controlled via built in firmware that is independant of the software used.

The EC firmware contains a fan table with pre-programmed fan speeds and temperature ranges for the fan to follow.
It can only be reprogrammed by ASUS themselves, or someone that can program an utility to alter the register in the memory, or Svet from MSI forum.

It can also depend on where the ec is located and if it's in a place you can edit and is not in a funny language.
