Hey everybody!
My beloved G73Jh has some major difficulties being able to stay alive for very long.
Some times it boots just fine, and i can play/surf/work for hours, but other times it just shuts down in a matter of minutes, and then loops over and over untill i unplug the power.
I have tried to switch the rams (I have 3 blocks) first with just one, then two and such.. But i cant seem to find a combination that works, sometimes it wont start at all.. all lights are on + fans run full speed but nothing on the screen.
BSOD says "machine_check_exception", but sometimes it doesnt even give me a BSOD
Please help, if you need more info just ask![]()

"machine_check_exception" Indicates hardware failure. It might be overheating, have you ever repasted your gpu and cpu with new thermal paste?
-
^^^ Agreed - I would disable auto restart How To Disable the Automatic Restart on System Failure in Windows 7
How To Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure From the Advanced Boot Options Menu in Windows 7
I am sure you know this but our G73 has 4 slots for RAM, have you been able to disassemble yours in order to get to the 4th slot? -
Yes I have tried pulling every single ram out of it (Have it completely disassembled right now) and plugging in one, then testing every slot to see if it shuts down spontaneously. I have done that with all the blocks i have, but the same thing happens every single time -> spontaneous shutdown.
Something is wrong with the CPU too, after ~30 shutdowns its only running on 1 core (Ill try get a CPU-Z report when i get home)
Do you think its doomed, or is there a hope with this G73?
The machine is not overheating, i re pasted it just to be sure, and the fans are running low when the error pops. -

When it's in a relatively stable state you could try flashing the bios as firmware corruption could cause lots of odd issues.
-
Hmm it says that it wont install because its the same bios. What to do?
-
Monkk, Are you trying to reflash with 213 (latest version). IF the answer is yes are you using EZFlash in the BIOS? According to this you can "flashback" so I would guess you can flash the same. How to downgrade your Bios using Winflash NOTE a few have reported issues with older versions of WinFlash so if you try it make sure you have the latest version from Asus's support site
-
Put all the RAM modules in and run a bootable memtest overnight or at least three passes if it will stay on long enough (the more passes the better). That's the easiest way to rule out memory issues, at least...

Though you can get instances where it does miss certain faults that rely on multiple components being loaded.
Does my G73Jh have a MB or RAM malfunction?
