    Hello,

I have pretty much decided on getting a G73, but I have one question. I want to know how good the keyboard is for typing. I have an ASUS that is about a year and a half old, and while I love it for gaming, I have one gripe with it. I have to do all my college work on it (which is alot since I attend online), and the keyboard isn't really that great. It skips letters fairly frequently, and has a pretty large amount of flex to the keyboard. Just want to get some owners opinions on the G73's keyboard. Thanks!!

If you have an Asus with a chicklet style keyboard, this one is pretty much just like it. It skips the occasional letter. I find that if I hit the keys pretty deliberately, it will never miss. I'm not sure why people call this "lag" or "flex". Either the contacts on the keys suck or the mechanical design of the keys keeps them from reliably hitting said contacts. Either way, it's not a great keyboard. It is a smoking fast laptop and I can overlook a crummy keyboard, but it is pretty crummy. I don't notice it when gaming, but you will most certainly notice it typing papers, emails, etc. I really notice it when I am instant messaging with coworkers. Trying to quickly bang out short message makes me look like I have the spelling skills of a third grader.

There is some minor flex to the keyboard, but nothing much that you will really feel unless you look at the keyboard while typing.

As jody stated, you do have to be "solid" with your key striking or you will miss the occasional key stroke... but other than that.. ive had nothing but good luck with my machine thus far, even after spilling 6 or 8oz of water all over it unintentionally...
