Thinking about getting the G74SX from microcenter ( Micro Center - ASUS G74SX-XR1 Laptop Computer - Black G74SX-XR1) wanted to know if there was a 2nd hard drive slot for me to put in an SSD. (IDK if this is the same version that BB sells or not, so please let me know!)
Also, does it come with a windows key or disk? Would there be anyway for me to move the OS to the SSD?

    Thanks! :)

Wow Scary Avatar- I better get this right- Yes you can add a second Hard drive - ASUS G74SX-XR1 - Gaming Laptop
BUT you may need a caddy to hold it - not sure but easy to get and install
Great Idea, since it comes with a 5400 RPM HDD. the sticker on the bottom will have the key you need to install Windows on the SSD If you do not get an OS disk, download the Win 7 install files for windows 7 from here:
G73/74/53 Series Driver and Application Reference
Also this is a great place to get the latest drivers. Good luck , keep us posted.

    Fixed my scary avi :)
Then I might just pick it up along with an SSD and not go for an extra hard drive. I have a windows disk so that should do me nicely. Just have to check out the glossy screen to see if I like it or not. Depends on my budget tomorrow and when i'll be getting a laptop (Birthday is tomorrow) or if I want a Sager or MSI instead. Thanks for the info bud! Have a nice day! (No matter which laptop I get, i'll be doing a review so look for that xD)

The XT1 has a caddy, screws, and a motherboard ribbon for the secondary drive. Dunno about XR1...

I just bought an XR1 last night and performed a HDD upgrade minutes ago. Comes with the same parts listed above. The parts are in a tiny ziploc and taped to the user's manual.

The access compartment is one very large screw. Each HDD can be attached to an individual caddy with 4 small screws and the caddy is then secured to the laptop with 4 additional screws. Very easy/quick process.

where did you buy the Laptop. I asked to "frys" and they said to me "It appears the ASUS g74SX-XR1 does not come with a second drive caddy for the second bay"
