I Cant find this demo : P can you link it?
-
Only who preorder the game can play the demo.
-
Demos are ment to test the game to decide.
Not a preorder bonus for already ordering the game. -
ok, and the screenshots??? -
I guess he means that It is sad to reach only 30 FPS in a shooter
which somehow I agree...
I honestly having such a bad time... every game that comes out need some tweak or fix before being playable...
Black Ops anyone?
The witcher 2 anyone?
Dirt 3? (sun glitch) -
And join the Duke Nukem's First Access Club with the CD key you got from borderlands or your pre-duke order than they send you a email with your steam Demo Code thats the only way to get it im downloading will post pics soon -
i've been waiting for this game for 10 years and now that it's almost out, i'm disappointed by it
-
-
Ya i can see 5 patches in the first month
demo was fun runs on DX9.0c
there was AMD Duo core Op if your running one of them old CPU's loli had everything maxed out 1920x1080 ran smooth had fun with the poo in the crapper
i think it will be fun but with BF3 coming out who knows
-
I just played it again with fraps open. The game runs arround 55 fps indoors and 40-45ish outdoors but is REALLY unstable. There's one action going on and it drops to 35ish and in combats with a few enemies it goes down to 30ish. It's one of the games with the less stable fps I've played.
-
-
Well ten years and we got the game lets hope its not 10 years before they fix it
-
-
Ya would have bin nice to have played the demo before i Pre-payed Duke i think i mite have waited to see how fast fixes would show up before i got the game. Not that i wouldn't have got the game i mean it's DUKE Nukem the man rocks! just would have bin nice to see a more finished game. Lets just hope its the demo and not the full game
-
Anyway the demo is the old PAX build... It isn't even the latest build. It will run better.
We can know it's an old build because in the latest version, there's the atomic logo when reaching a check point (see here at 0:59) and in the FAC demo it's not there.
EDIT* I just did a video showing a secret -
-
-
Is this game good? Or just console port?
-
Worse, it's a 10 yr old game.
-
For anybody who's interested, the full game doesn't run any better than the demo, and it chugs in some of the weirdest places.

Can't wait to play this game. Honestly? It's going to be pretty terrible but I'm still looking forward to playing it because it's cheesy and silly. After 14 years in development, I hope nobody had high hopes for it. Still I feel sorry for DNF, there's zero way it could live up to the hype. Hopefully the next DN game is better.
-
my observation was based on the posted video
waiting for the final release to see if the 14 years in development was worth -
It's just... depressing. Like a skeevy old guy trying to show that he's "hip with the kids, yo". The game's about as funny as a mid-life crisis. -
-
Not what is expected
It ok to play but not what you would expect after 12 year. Might be the 12 years thats the problem. Dont know....something is missing from the game and the humor is a bit to much at some point.
But runs maxed without v.sync.
with a strong 40-50 FPS -
-
As Duke himself says "Ball´s of fail" (need to lose the pinball game to hear that)
The graphics side looks a bit lowtech and strange is sometimes the graphics do not focus as fast as they should when they get in range. That might be a driver or a game bug i think.
They at least could have made the babes in the game look better
Is it me or does the story seem a bit like the original FPS ? The idea is the same exept for the part that the aliens took the women of earth this time but the idea is the same use to spawn monster....same as in the original game 12 year ago?. -
Well I played it for a few hours and got to Duke's ***** City bar before I got a migraine and stopped. It's not as bad as I thought it would be, it's...average. Actually no, if you took Duke away, it'd be pretty bad game but Duke bumps it up to average level. But it's so disappointing that it's so meh, that it's probably going to seem more terrible than it is to people. The game is ugly as hell though, it looks like a 2005 game and runs like a 2011 game. That's not a good thing, the framerate is really iffy maxed out and the game is too aesthetically unpleasing for that to be case.
But yeah it's just...bleh so far. It's a really dated game with some failed modern elements that nobody wanted (2 weapons only?) that just drag it down. Seems like it could have been much more in the hands of a competent developer. -
Thats what it look like ....something from 2005 but if i am not mistaken then was it not then when the first DN rumors were leaked ( pictures ) ?. Might think they took the old project and just continued that.
Amm well i kind of like the 2 weapon option....come on look at duke in a mirror with the weapons.....they are huuuuuge.. + at some point taking the wrong weapon can = Fail
LOL if you get to the part were you drive the monster truck at part 3 or 4 right before the mine there is a shot down fighter with a rocket on it.......DO not shoot the red dot on it. Turns out its a nuke -
I've completed the game in 6 hours or so... I am disappointed. A few jokes are good and the interactive objects are incredidible, but else the game is just a poor title way overpriced. Remove Duke and the game just sucks. It's way too repetitive and linear...
I've wrote a lot about it on official forums, kind it sick of it now lol so I wont elaborate too much -
Gearbox said they were just taking what had been done and shining it up for release. Too bad they weren't in charge of the franchise from the start. -
I wasn't expecting the game of the year... I was only expecting a Duke game and expecting what Gearbox told us.
But it's the worse Duke game (I even had much more fun with manhattan project lol) and none of what Gearbox said was there. Like they said there would be blood decals and gore... There's no blood decals at all (I don't care THAT much, but still it's a lie) and Randy Pitchford said it took him twice the time it takes to beat Portal 2, to finish it. It took me 8h in Portal 2 and 6ish for Duke (and I didn't rush at all, I even played 30 minutes with mini games in the bar and found most ego boosts) so they lied about how long the game is (I was really waiting for a 10-16h good game, or avg game since it's dated, but nope got a short crap).
The game was so short, so linear and so repetitive that I really got bored when I saw I had zero surprises in the game... One thing happens and then it happens all the time. (Spoiler)They even put the opening boss, that we played in the Demo and saw many times before, as the final boss. What the hell?(like the monster truck, it's really fun but after a few minutes it's really crap because you just ride a bit and run out of gas and have to find some, rince and repeat 4-5 times) -
-
Also, one the things that ruined the gameplay was the scripted events. You need a bridge? No problem! After your fight, a wrecked ship will suddenly get in place to make you a perfect bridge! Oh there's a door you cannot open? No problem! For the 100x time in the game there will be an explosion out of nowhere with aliens, that will make you a passage! I'm exagerating, but I don't like having to wait a few seconds everytime, knowing exactly that some scritped event will let me move on. I don't like it in any games, but in Duke I found it worse. When I say it was really the same thing again and again, well it was. Maybe a few years ago it would have been a bit better, but today we saw those 10000000000000000 times in bad games. It's déjà vue. -
hehe, anyone tried play this on the hardest difficulty ?
) apparently you will die from 2 hit from a normal enemy and at the very beginning part when duke is in his secret office?! there was an alien who try go get in the room and we have to punch him, i couldnt find anyway to beat that alien in hard mode since he just "touch" me 2 times and duke dies xD this game is so bad on so many level
-
Might try the hardest level before i uninstall the game
-
Don't tell me about the ennoyance of event scripting.. Since call of duty mw2 it seems like the game turned into a movie, with here and there some gameplay. Its ennoying a hell. My thinking lead me to believe that they are doing this to make the story/game a little more "exciting", but my oppinion is they kind of failed at this. Its programmed, whoever plays the game, does it the exact same way as you did, so there's nothing exciting to it.
Another thought about the short storyline is that maybe exchanged the long storyline and bad graphics for a short storyline and better graphics. Since nicer graphics take a lot more time to make, and gets a lot larger, they can't make the installation files that big, thus the shorter storyline.
A final word I wanne throw in there is that in the past, games werent that numerous as they are now (how many games are there on the market, and not to mention the platforms), so companies have 2 choices, eighter spend their money on a decent game, or spend it on advertising. -
I think it's good that it's not so long... Coz I wanne start with my 2nd playthrough of The Witcher 2
The game is cool coz it's called "Duke" but remove that and you have a low budget title... As said... Graphics aren't that good, try to zoom in and don't move... I always have a "flue image".. :s
+ game is pretty rushed and way over the top... You can say Duke is good and have some posters and stuff but the game is more about Duke's ego then about the gameplay...
+ "puzzels" are way to easy if you have played the old Duke...
A missed chance... once again...
Still enjoying it as a "brainless shooter" though

Graphics dont seem bad to me with everything on super ultra mega settings, sure its not crysis but its nothing even close to PS2 and stuff like people are comparing it too.
Graphics dont make a game to me anyways, and often times "old" graphics help retain more of the retro feel.
I mean just imagine if they made a new super mario 2d platform game and it used SNES style sprites. Would you complain about the graphics?
What if they made it with the Crysis Engine and it was super ultra impressive would that make it a better game?? to me it would be worse because it would ruin that classic feel of mario... though I would not mind a deep voice telling me "Power Mode Activated" and suddenly I can jump 4 times higher in my Cry Suit to reach the top of the flag pole
