I would like to do a easy SSD add to my BB G73jh.
Please advise:
1) Suggest an SSD model and size..
2) Please let me know if I can easily Port my Present running OS to SSD.
Maybe by minimizing the default OS(C: ) partion using win7 partion shrink.
Maybe using a partion cloning utility to transfer OS to the SSD.
Will this workThanks in advance

1. Depends on your budget really. If you have endless amounts of cash then get a 500GB SSD. If not then get something like 80GB-160GB. Just enough for the OS and some games/programs.
2. You're much better off going for a clean install if you're going from an HDD to SDD. It can lead to problems otherwise. -
Thanks Kuro!
Good to know that a clean install would be required.

Any 2.5 inch SSD would fit, as kuro said, dont try to clone your SSD since it will cause a whole bunch of problems. Juste do a clean install. If you want good deals, check ebay a few times a day for auctions finishing, i got a 256GB SSD, Crucial 260mb/sec for just under 280$ witha 5 year warranty...an amazing deal and this is my second deal in 2 weeks

If you're willing to do some extra work (and risk), I wrote a guide on setting it up so you can have the recovery partition restore to the SSD.
A clean install wouldn't be required in that case. -
And, as always mentioned when this question is asked...
If you have Acronis True Image you can make an image of your current system drive and copy it to the new drive using an Acronis True Image boot disk. Just don't use the sector-by-sector (clone) option when making the image of the drive. -
If you are on a budget you can get a 64gb sandforce contoller drive from microcenter.com for $99. The drive received excellent reviews given it's price. See techbargains.com for details. I would recommends the largest drive you can afford. But the 3rd gen intel drives come out soon and so do the SF-2000 contollers. Both will cause prices to drop. In that case, buying a 64gb now is a safe bet bc you can enjoy all the benifits now w/o laying down a ton of $$$. Then in a year or so when prices are 1/2 what they are now, you can get a larger drive.

even if you use the best cloning software you will screw things up. You windows is set up on diferent sizes and different sectors, i know at least 5 guys who tried this and they all ended up doing a clean install

Intel X25-M and OCZ Vertex 2 are pretty good models for the price. If you're low on budget and don't really care about size (speed is relatively the same), get the OCZ Agility series. I don't really see the point of having an SSD bigger than 120GB unless you want to store everything on it. Having games on the SSD doesn't really help much with gameplay (loading speed increases by 1-2seconds on average)
Easy SSD add to g73jh ??
