Everybody should Fresh Install!!! Why? Thanks Chastity!!!

I purchased a G73JH BB Model about 9 months ago. I have formatted it about 4 times, had some problem, some idle temp problem, some BSOD, no GSOD but i've had almost every know problem. Every time i formatted my computer was with the recovery partition included on my hard drive. Every time I formatted by the recovery partition, it was only a matter of time before problem started.
After Chastity created his thread with all the drivers for the JH, i decided i would do a complete fresh install from a Win7 RTM DVD and install all the drivers manually from his page. I AM IN HEAVEN. This laptop has NEVER been this fast, this silent and had so low idle temps. Before the format, my idle temps were around 70-75. Now, they are at a ridiculous 50-55...thats 20 degrees lower!!! I can't explain why but this laptop runs so much better. It's fast, i haven't has a single problem, not even an IE9 Beta crash, not even a program not responding for a few seconds....THANK YOU CHASTITY, even if youre not entirely responsible for my laptop running so well, you still posted a nice thread with all the up to date drivers i needed.

I just have 3 very small problems which i'm sure can be solved with some good advice.
1- The S button, the one to the right of the TwinTurbo button doesnt work.
2- My second hard drive doesn't show up in My Computer, it does show up in diskmgmg.msc, it also shows up in the defrag menu, but not in My Computer
3- One device in Device Manager has no drivers installed, i don't know what it is, here is the screenshot:


Also one last question, on Chastity's driver page, there is a Intel TurboBoost Technology Monitor (2.0) & Driver, when i try to install it, it says my computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements, how can I install this?

turbo boost monitor 2.0? Cool, so maybe this one actually works.

 

1) Install Splendid using the Asus Driver Disk

2) You probably need to install the INF Chipset Driver and IMSM driver again. I'd use the install DVD for that also, then update using Chastity's links.

3) I don't know about this one, it could be the Intel Engine Management Driver, but it sounds like something else. You can try installing it using the DVD also.

4) The reason you Turbo boost monitor doesn't work is probably b/c the drivers mentioned above are not installed. That should fix it.

I think you missed a few things on Chastity's guide, I just looked it over and it looks like everything is there.

 

I may have found what that unknown driver is, it seems as it has something to do with my Wester Digital MyBook...will try to figure that out

It looks weird as heck lol. Tiny tiny font. Especially when you're used to the old one.

Its also no longer a part of the sidebar and isn't a gadget anymore. Comes with its own shortcut on yer desktop.

Works...okay.

What is this cowpoo. When it runs, it has its own taskbar icon. Like IT THINKS ITS AN IMPORTANT PROGRAM.

And uses 50mb of ram.

The Driver page is a precursor for a Fresh Install Guide I was thinking of doing. This way I don't have to link all the software in the guide; I can just refer to that page. As stated before, the S button is for Splendid. I have it installed, but I get better results running the Windows 7 Color Calibration Wizard. I lowered Red a tiny bit, and Blue by about 10% and got some better results.

 

Sounds good, and any suggestions for the drive not appearing?

 

@polish_pat if your disk is showing up in disk management but not my computer, it may just need to be assigned a drive letter. It looks like you may need to install some drivers for the enclosure too. As long as it doesn't say unallocated or unknown for the partition in disk management, just right click it and assign it a drive letter.

The WD SES device probably requires WD SmartWare (or whatever it was called).

 

Yeah, probably but there is no way im installing that crapware, it always took like 2-20% of CPU

Well all my problems are fixed and after 2 weeks of running the g73 with a fresh install and using chastity's driver page my idle temps are still around 50 degrees...i cant explain why but i love it!!! Seriously everybody should fresh install, its worth it especially for people who had their laptop for more than a couple months
