    Hello everyone!

I've got a G53SW laptop from summer of 2011. In the manual available online from ASUS, it claims to have a 26-pin ExpressCard reader. The downloaded manual seems to refer to the G53JW, but since the image matches I'm assuming they are roughly the same.

However, after buying a 34-pin ExpressCard with 2 FireWire and 1 USB 2.0 port, and attempting to insert it, I realized that the 34-pin expresscard in fact does not fit, and the port referred to in the manual is in fact a "normal" card-reader and is therefore too small to hold the expresscard. The card looks like this:

Any ideas? Do I need som form of adapter to make the card fit? Is the manual in fact incorrect? Is there any other way to add a firewire port to the computer? I need it for my digital mixer/soundcard.

    Thankful for help,
    Tom

How does the card not fit? Too wide? Too tall? Does it not fully insert?

afaik, the G53 doesn't have an expresscard slot, period. The leads may be there on the motherboard, but I haven't seen a G53 with the actual expresscard connector on it.

Too wide. There is no chance that I'm able to insert the card at all. The overhang (or sidehang, as it may be) is a bit less than half a cm.

@Second reply: I'm coming to the same conclusion, but the manual clearly refers to the slot as an expresscard slot; and the image on the page is identical to what my computer actually looks alike. Obviously, incorrect manuals do exist, but I was hoping that I'd just be brainfarting and missing something obvious (an adapter, or similar).

It may be the multi card reader connected via PCI-E rather than USB to give higher speeds...
