    Goooood afternoon/morning/evening everyone!

After a good 4 years of programing, work, college, music production and gaming, my asus G51VX-r05(Best Buy) is going to retire, along with my old dell 20 inch monitor (60Hz, woo) as well. Its time for an upgrade for my next year of college and beyond!.

I have already decided/am set on an Asus G75VX-BHI7N09 (From Amazon, great price), a Samsung 840 Pro SSD 256gb (main drive), and 16 GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM (I produce music and use lots of SQL/Database programs).

The one area I am "stuck on" purchasing is getting a monitor for overall use, but specifically for gaming. I don't game much but when I do its either LAN with good friends OR HARDCORE by myself (good stress reliever, I'm studying IT and working full time lol).

I have my eyes set on ASUS VG248QE with the 144hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. I know that connecting to this bad boy via HDMI is out of the option because its proven/tested that it only produces 60Hz. With that being said, this leaves me with the mini Displayport/Thunderbolt (this model has thunderbolt)....

    Basically my QUESTIONS are these:

    1. The options to connecting to the VG248QE are Display port, HDMI, and Dual Link DVI. I was wondering if anyone knows (has heard or tested ) if a mini displayport to displayport cable can utilize/display the 144hz refresh rate and/or a Dual Link DVI adapter.

    2. Can the G75VX push out refresh rates 120hz and beyond in the first place???

Thank you very much for your time!
