    Hmm.. Black Friday... :)
I found a really cheap Full HD Monitor and i just suddenly think about this question. Have you guys ever tried to have your laptop hook up with another 23-inch Desktop Monitor?
Is it worth to buy? Will it have any strikes on gaming performance? I would like to know. Thanks. :D

I always decide these things based on a few factors: if you have a powerful machine to run a fullhd game with all the gimmicks then go for it. Otherwise there will be no point to get a 23" and downgrade the resolution to 900p for performance sake (like games such witcher 2 or bf3).
Also jaggies will be more noticeable and unbearable due to the larger estate of the monitor while the built in masks them alot.

Unless you need it for movies or work I'd say pass. On my desktop pc I was quite forced to get a big monitor because I have the power to use it, to make an example.

i'm using my G73 with Dell U2312HM 23" 1080p display all the time when i'm home. of course it's better to play/work on bigger display. performance isn't worse, i have same fps like i have on built in display.

I use HDMI from G73JH to my 46" LCD TV. However, I don't play games like this; it's just for watching movies from my laptop or streams, etc. I don't think it's worth it to get a 23" LCD and keyboard. I used to have a 27" LCD but never felt like using it with my G73JH.

I have another 52" TV and when I mirror the 2 screens there is no performance difference, but expanding, on the other hand, shows some hesitations ..

I would say a second screen is super useful when you play MMO when you need a second screen to help you out. Otherwise the change in size from 17 to 23 won't increase your gaming experience...

It cant be far off that laptops soon come with more outputs especially as eyefinity is included with the high end ATI mobile cards but cannot be used because of the lack of output.

Hopefully this is something that is consider with the 7 series 3 HDMI outs would be very nice sitting next to a HDMI in :) I can hope.

Will it affect gaming performance: as long as you game on a single monitor, no.

Is it worth it, it depends. At university, i use a dual monitor setup for my G73, 22" LG IPS226V as the main display and the G73's LCD to display research papers, data i need to input in a report, etc. If you are the type of person that has a wiki opened/voip/webpage/whatever opened when you game, then you might find the other monitor handy.
