I've recently purchased the G73-JW X3C from Canadacomputers. It's the slightly weaker version with i5-460M, 6GB and 500 gb hdd.
Though none of that matters, because the laptop itself remains perfectly cool. The problem is the AC adapter, it gets seriously hot. After gaming and leaving it plugged in for a few hours, the adapter gets hot to the point that I can barely even hold it without some pain.
Has anyone else had this problem?

Does it get hot leaving the laptop in idle? Browsing the web with my G73 and I7 it barely gets warm. Gaming is another story of course :).

The adapter shouldn't be getting hot if the CPU and GPU aren't doing much work.

It does indeed get hot, but that's normal. Its the G73, what'd you expect :p.
The plastic of mine even gets soft and flexible when i play for a long time.
Just make sure that the adapter doesnt get to much power. If you're concerned you should try a powersplitter with an overvoltage-controller (I don't know the correct term in english :().
