Ok, I've been using this laptop for a month or two now (G73JH-BST7 bought at BB) and it's been great. Games run smoothly, though I rarely play high-end graphic games, usually play MMO's. I just checked a few minutes ago that there was a new Catalyst driver available. So i downloaded it, tried to install, then BAM! A small blue screen with my laptop making some weird sound. So I did a force shutdown by holding the power button, then turned it on again, and there it was, I was on 800x600 resolution. So I thought, "hmm, maybe it's just because my laptop crashed while it was installing" so I ran the Catalyst Driver I downloaded from the ASUS website (v11.3). Then all suddenly, an error pops out saying "Failed to load detection driver". Then I panicked. And here I am, asking for some help on how to fix this.

BTW, I NEVER updated my BIOS, vBIOS. When I bought this laptop, I just used the ASUS live update.

Im sorry I can't give out a screenshot on the bluescreen.

Any reply is very much appreciated.

never mind! I fixed it, just installed Miscrosoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable and it worked fine.

You need to update your machine to BIOS 213 + update the vBIOS to the latest release (see link below) in order to use any Catalyst after 10.3 or else you will get the problems you just listed.
