Hey guys. I've had my G73 since May and it has been doing well. However, I noticed that, starting just a couple days ago, my laptop now makes a much louder than usual fan noise 100% of the time that it is on.

I'm certain that the fans didn't run at this speed/volume until just recently, but I'm not sure why that would be. I plan on cleaning out the vents with air when I get home today, but I'm assuming that it is not related to high temps, because it happens the moment the laptop powers on, and because I don't have heating in my home, so it's like 50-60 degrees F around.

I checked the Problems and Solutions thread to see
    "VIII. Fan problem
Fans would go to full speed after waking from sleep.
Solution: Also solved in the 209 and later Bios."

However, the problem persists after restarting machine, so it doesn't seem relevant, and I'm also already on Bios 209. Any ideas?

Make sure it isn't overheating, even if your ambient temp is low. Then clean out the fans to rule out any kind of obstruction. If the fans are spinning up to 100% before windows even loads, like if you leave it in the BIOS setup menu for a few minutes after a cold boot, it may be a bad sensor or wire on the fan or fan connector.

So I got home, turned my laptop off, took it outside, and then sprayed some air can into the back vents. It was kind of dark, but I dont' think I saw dust come out, unless I missed some really fine dust. There definitely weren't any clumps. I'm hoping that there aren't just big clumps of dust in there that it only moved around.

At any rate, I turned my G73 back on and it seems like the fan noise is back to normal.
