Just turned on the laptop today from standby and the fan is running like crazy, really high, can't even listen to any Music. The noise seems to be coming from the right vents on the side, no warm air though coming out. I have a cooler thermaltauke and i am not experiencing any high gpu or cpu temperatures. Anyone know how i can lower the fan speeds? It is really "loud" and annoying and sounds like it will explode lol. I know it may not be a problem as the fan's are keeping my comp at good temp, but the noise is annoying and i never experienced such loud noise yesterday or a week ago, just occurred today. The fan speed seems to be like this even when it is on idle. Before the incredible high noises - My GPU yesterday was always 58-60'c Idle and Cpu around 30, now since the fan is running extremely high, the temps dropped to 40'c for gpu and 19'c for cpu.
Thanks!

Okay so i shut down the computer and turned it back on after keeping the fan running for like a full half hour at full speed, and the speed seems to be back at normal again. I wonder what this could mean. Problem seems to have fixed by a simple shutdown and restart.

My brother's G51 has the same problem. He has to restart to get the fan to stop. Unfortunately my brother is dumb and won't take it in to Best Buy why he still has a warranty. It's probably too late now...
Anyway, have you tried updating the BIOS? That's the only thing I think might fix the problem. Otherwise consider sending it in for warranty repair.
Here's the thread I started on the issue you're having: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/501830-g51vx-sound-only-works-after-sleep-fans-buggy.html
