Here are some of the problems that I've had with my G73SW

    1. When I reopen the closed lid, the screen doesn't show up anything. Just pure black. This happened to me A LOT OF TIMES. The only solution for me is to closed the lid all the way down again, and reopen it to make the screen goes back on!

    2. ATK hotkey is very laggy sometimes. Other times when I''m trying to use these hotkeys, the effect does show up, but it isn't functioning at all. I would usually restart the computer and everything will go back to normal.

    3. The button on the very left corner (lights on/off) does shut off all the lights, but when reactivated the backlit doesn't lighten up at all.

    4. When restarting the computer, the CPU fan suddenly speed up to 100% and gradually goes back to normal fan speed. This only happened to me two times and I have no idea what this is.

    5. When gaming, the constant drop of fps is signifacant (especially GTA IV & Shift 2). This could probably due to the CPU throttling. The game that I'm currently playing: GTA IV & Episodes from Liberty City, SHIFT 2 Unleashed, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Mafia II.

Please share your thoughts or give any advice.

    Hi,

1- it's the magnet problem. It's a known issue that fortunately doesn't affect alot of users, basically the magnet located near the touchpad gets charged/discharged so much that reads the lid as closed. Some users tried to fix it by removing the magnet itself, or by removing the plastic layer underneath the touchpad.

2- atk driver sometimes is slow due to CPU throttling. You can try to update both keyboard filter and atk driver to latest release, see if it fixes it.

3- yeah that's normal. At least my previous g53 didn't light up the keyboard when I switched all the lights off with that button. I had to manually light it back by FN+F6 I think.

4- max fan on boot is a bug into bios fan tables. Nothing to worry about, if your temps are fine.

5- again, another ground breaking bug in bios. Asus still hasn't provided a bios upgrade to stop all the sandy CPUs from throttling. I mean that ALL sandy CPUs have this problem as well all sandy based g series laptops (even g74).
You're missing a whole lot of performance due to this.
As stated a billion of times you need to launch and turn on ThrottleStop each time you turn on your pc to block the throttling otherwise you're running on half power.
That fixes also the atk slowdown along to other windows Problems such slowdowns and sliggishness.

Another thing is that everytime i switch my computer on/restart it, my number lock is switched off and i have to press the num lock key to activate it before i can type my password at the windows login screen. Is it like that for everyone or is it only me?
