I'm installing it now. I'll let whoever cares know how it runs on the G73.
On a different note, I am so disappointed in Best Buy....and right after I defended them in another thread, although the two issues are not related. I pre-ordered the game and got an email yesterday saying to pick it up today. I then get an email today saying they had shipping problems and that I won't be able to get it until Friday. What was the point of me preordering it from them if they can't get it on time themselves? Everyone else got it. So I went to Gamestop.

My copy will be in my hands tomorrow afternoon. Much love for Amazon Prime :)

I played in the beta and I know that my G73JH ate it up like candy at the default settings. I didn't try maxing it out, because at that point I was worried about my temps. Now that I've repasted, I'm looking forward to installing it.

Know which server you're going to play on?

I already forgot which server I chose. I think it started with an L and was toward the bottom of the list. I have the graphics set pretty high and it works, but not really fast. I'm gonna play tomorrow with lower settings and see what the difference is. Also, max temp was 84 today.

i played the beta on my g71gx and i was pretty disappointed with the performance. to get a good frame rate i had to go down to 720 on the res and crank down a lot of settings. i know the 260m isnt as good as the 5870 by a decent margin, but the game is terribly optimized. basically i ran crysis warhead better than it.

I got lucky that my gamestop got my reserve, been playing it all day. It is more stable than it was in beta. Still a few quirks but its great.

Been playing since I got off work. Runs nicely with settings cranked. I too bought at best buy and had to do emergency run to gamestop. Havnt tested framerates or temps yet but to the Nellie eye it's great.

Can't do screenshots as I'm at work now, but like I said in my previous post it runs very smooth with full settings on high. There are a few options I left unchecked but they are only for very high end GPUs and systems. It runs just as good as WoW does on Ultra, but its a much prettier game than wow ever thought about being so its hard to compare apples to oranges. If your worried about the game graphicly, don't be.

okay guys i am in DESPERATE NEED of your help. I bought my collector edition yesterday morning and since installing it @11AM having been busting my off up till to today ( yes i didnt goto sleep and yes i did waste an off day from work trying to figure this out :[). It just simple crashes opening opening with the stock video drivers that came with the asus notebook. I updated the driver to 10.8. That was a whole crazy issue. did the "installworkaround=true" trick to get it on this computer after driver sweeping the old drivers out. But since installing the 10.8 ati drivers. My screen just flickers and GSODs with vertical gray lines eventually restarts...

I had problems a couple of weeks before with getting the benchmark to work.. I updated to 10.8 to get it to run some bit but eventually having my computer crashing on me while playing the benchmark. So i just cleaned and reinstalled with asus drivers i found somewhere on the internet and everyone was ok again... just the fact that icouldnt run benchmark.. I was hoping things would turn out differently with the retail client.. but nope.

So please help me out guys. this really sucks. My game is jsut staring at me on my desk. ANd I'm just sitting in safe mode just so i can surf without the computer crashing on me.. :(

my notebook is the g73 of course

Have you upgraded to the latest vBIOS? What are your TSS1 temps using HWINFO? Sounds like GSOD/Thermal Shutdown to me.

There are a ton of posts regarding the FFXIV benchmark and the G73. Almost all of the issues folks were having with this laptop have been resolved (GSODs included). Take a moment to check out the stickied threads at the top of the Asus Gaming Notebook Forum and see if any of those solutions fix your issues. If not, please return and let us know what symptoms you're having and I'm sure someone will be willing to offer up some advice on a solution. Most folks are really helpful here, and over time you'll learn who tends to give the best advice. Good luck and hopefully we won't hear back from you about more issues :)

Update your vBios, it's stickied in this section under the "Solve all your GSOD blues" post. I had the same issues you did and this fixes them all and the game runs really good imo (I play on 720 though, hate full screen).
