After sending my G73 in for repairs yet again, this time my spacebar is not working properly. This is not a software issue, as my space bar does not depress correctly. I think they must've abused it or something. I have to press really hard just to get the space to register. How can I fix this on my own?

I would make a phone call to whoever did the repair and do my best to get them to send me a new keyboard. That would probably be the fastest and the cheapest repair. Having removed the keyboard on my G73 to do a repaste, I,m not surprised that it was damaged since the two-sided tape that Asus uses is "super strong".

How would I take the key off? Do I just pop it off with a knife like every other keyboard?

Oh hey would do you know, my space bar just decided to magically work again >_>

To take the bar off, just put your thumbs on the bottom of the bar (pointing at you) and put your other fingers on the top (pointing at screen), push down with your thumbs and pull up with your fingers.
