After debating since I bought my G73 from Best Buy (owned it for a little over 2 weeks) I decided I'd rather just try to flash the vbios, and it worked, so I'm glad that went well.

Now then, what's the most recent driver release that isn't a beta or is at least stable? Which would you guys recommend? Also, do I need to remove these stock drivers before I install these new ones, or not?

Thank you very much, you guys have been a major help so far!

11.3 is official WHQL, stable and the recommended set for those that don't need/want to test and provide AMD with feedback, while 11.4 are beta preview drivers that are pretty much rock stable.

Most report performance boosts with 11.4. Chastity's page has them links.

Thanks. Do I need to uninstall my stock drivers or should I just install 11.3/11.4 over them?

Installing over them is usually fine. Go for it.

*sigh* well I got BSOD during the install of the 11.3 and now I can't even open CCC at all.

    Any suggestions?

This seems to be an issue for many when installing 11.3 over old drivers. I had exactly the same problem. This is what I did to fix it:

It took me a few attempts.

    1. Uninstall the CCC software using the control panel uninstall option.
    2. Right click computer - properties - device manager and uninstall the 5870 driver. (tick remove drivers software also)
    3. Run drive sweeper/cleaner from Guru 3D (safe mode is recommended but I didnt bother) and clear out all remaining ATI files.
    4. Restart. When it restarts it will say installing driver automatically. Once complete go back to device manager and it should be Standard VGA controller/driver if not go back to 1 and try again.
    5. Download and install the new driver and once installed it should give you the option to restart and that should do it.

In regards to 11.3 vs 11.4 it appears 11.4 does the job quite nicely and addressed some things that 11.3 official release doesn't.

11.4 has been very good to me, and would recommend it wholeheartedly. I'm in the boat with Vicious where the all-in-one driver packs are preferred to official whql releases. Go figure.
