I have had my G73JH -A1 for a couple of months now and I am experiencing a strange problem. If I am using graphics intensive applications like photoshop or a 3d modeling program, the display will randomly flicker every once and a while. Then about 30% of the time the laptop will crash with a blank backlit black or gray screen. If I am watching a video the audio will be in an endless stuck loop of sound. Hitting ctrl+alt+del does nothing. I have to hold down the power to shut it off.

I have updated my video drivers to the 10.12 version and my BIOS is updated to 211. I have all the updates for the applications and windows 7 (64 bit). I haven't done the vBIOS fix as it doesn't seem to be the same issue as the GSOD I have read about on this forum (unless someone can tell me differently).

I am not sure if sending it in for service work would help as it seems to be an intermittent/random issue, but does severely affect the stability and reliability of the laptop.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Would a clean install of windows and apps be worth doing to remedy this problem? Or would the vBIOS fix be the route to try. Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

Definitely, I'd go for vBios update. This should fix your problem and allows to use the latest Ati drivers!

Thanks for your suggestions. I updated the vbios and knock on wood, things seem to be working fine now. I hope this was the cure.

Those were still vBIOS instabilities affecting your system. The vBIOS update was the proper fix. :)
