    Hello,
After doing a clean install of windows 7 home premium everything has been working great. All my Fn keys were working just fine after installing the newest touchpad drivers and then i went to play some black ops so I plugged my Logitech mouse in and i then tried to turn the trackpad off by using Fn+F9 and it didn't work. I had to go into the control panel to disable it. I then unplugged my mouse, still didn't work. Tried restarting with no mouse plugged in, again, didn't work.

Has anyone had this problem and know how to fix it? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

edit: all my Fn keys are working except for my trackpad. I can control volume and brightness, etc..

edit #2: I was took a quick look at the drivers page that Chastity provided and noticed Synaptics Driver Fix for missing "Disable pointing device when mouse attached" Option was curious if this will make my Fn function work again or will it just turn my trackpad off whenever a mouse is plugged in via USB?

Answer to edit 2 is no, Try opening calculator and press F9 you should see negate in the calculator window, this will verify that the key itself is good. If you see negate, close calculator, then try updating or reinstalling the ATK Package 1.0.0008 from Chasitity driver page or Asus's site . Hope this helps, J

Reinstall the new new touchpad drivers with no usb devices plugged in and it will come back.

This should be added to the troubleshooting sticky.

Re-installing the Synaptics drivers without any USB peripherals really does fixes the Fn+F9 issue.

When I reinstall the drivers then go to play a game and plug my mouse in, will the same thing happen over and over where i need to reinstall the drivers?

no, it only occurs when you initially install the driver, if you have an external mouse plugged in, and the touchpad disabled, your ATK becomes borked... when reinstalling the drivers with the touchpad enabled and no usb mouse plugged in, everything works as it used to.

Your ATK driver should not be the problem, its because you installed synaptics with a usb mouse plugged in, and your touchpad disabled (thats what caused it for me). Unistalling synaptics, then rebooting and reinstalling should fix the problem if you do the above before reinstalling.

Okay thank you very much. I will try that here in a minute. Just to clarify, the driver: Synaptics v15.2.7 Driver package is the current up-to-date 'working' driver?

Also, for those of you saying to reinstall ATK Package, which version is accurate?

ATK Package 1.0.0007 (Enables custom keys) This plus Power4Gear Hybrid enables Twin Turbo Button with animation.
    or
    ATK Package 1.0.0008

    Thanks!

1.0.0008 is the newest version of ATK, I recommend that you update to it just to ensure you have the latest version, but that should not be causing your issues (never hurts to update unless you end up bricking your machine on a BIOs update :p )

15.2.7 is the latest synaptics update, which also happens to be the one that is picky about the disabled touchpad + external mouse when installing.

Reinstall the Synaptics driver without any mouse connected and Touchpad enabled and it will fix the problem.

Sorry i was traveling out of town. I got it working again. Thank you for all the help! I haven't done a BIOS update because everything is working well and nothing is crashing so i'll just leave that part alone =)

Thanks again for all the support. I appreciate it.
