    Hello,

My G73 is freezing quite often for some unknown reason.

I originally had the latest Realtek drivers and the Creative software installed which caused frequent freezes. After uninstalling both, running driversweeper in safe mode and then reinstalling just the latest Reaktek drivers, the freezing reduced significantly.

However, the freezing has started up again with no Creative software installed.

Is it possible that it has nothing to do with the sound at all? Has anyone else been experiencing this?

I have updated to Bios 211 and Chastity's modified Vbios, along with the latest ATI drivers.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

Is it locking up or giving you a BSOD?

It's locking up. Forcing me to restart.

The creative driver was the notorious one for lockups. The atheros wireless drivers are also known to cause lockups sometimes - maybe you can try using wired ethernet and disabling the wireless adapter.

Ok, I'll start using a wired connection to test this out.

Thanks for the insight, I'll report back with my findings.

So heres what I have to report:

    - ran the laptop WITH wireless on for about 4-5 hours, froze 3 times. I also had dual monitors running (laptop + 1 lcd) just surfing and youtubing. My GPU idle temp was hovering around 75 degrees Celsius so I thought it could have possibly been my GPU.

    - disabled wireless. Ran for 4 hours. 0 freezes. Ran 1080p movie and 720p on each screen at the same time for another 40 mins to ensure it wasn't the GPU. Ran flawlessly.

So I guess it most likely is the wireless. Thanks so much for the tip ALLurGroceries.
I hope this post helps someone else as well.

Sounds like you've got a driver conflict. I'd start with a fresh install.

sodasox, if you are getting a karnel lvl error in manage (right click on my computer), event viewer, try the windows fix in my signature. It worked for me. If its not from karnel lvl's, then perhaps there is another fix on the site that could help.

ignore the harmful warning when going to the site.

edit - o before trying the fix, see if there are any updates for windows by manually checking. Also be sure to save a restore point in case the fix was useless.

Thanks, I checked this but couldn't find any type of kernel error. I updated the atheros driver and have not experienced a single freeze since. I think I'll keep it this way for now until I experience any more types of locking up.
