Will a fresh windows 7 install reset my Bios and vBios?

My G73JH keeps on getting errors and BSODs when I boot it up. I'm getting sick of trying to figure out the problem, so I've decided to do a fresh install. I just need to know if I'll need to redo the Bios and vBios to their current versions again.

BIOS systems (Motherboard and Video Card) are not affected by OS/Software installations. They will both remain identical to their previous states after a fresh Windows install.

The bios and vbios update are separate from windows, they will not be affected by a new windows install in any way.

Click on the link in my sig.... What to do with your new G73JH it will walk you though updating all the bios and reinstalling windows and the drivers. If that doesn't fix your problems then it is probably hardware related.

Would overclocking my graphics card be the cause of my problems? I haven't overclocked it past what everyone else has with their G73's.

I hope it's not hardware related. That means I'll have to bring it in to Best Buy to get it fixed. Hopefully a fresh install will work. It's only been giving me issues recently, well after updating my bios and vBios, so neither one of those should be the ones causing my problem.

My laptop runs fine until I turn it off. Then sometimes on the next bootup, it'll either go into repair mode, or give me the BSOD, forcing me into repair mode. It's really odd.

The first place I would look is my memory. Have you tried running Memtest86? Look into that and see if you're getting any errors. Faulty memory can cause all kinds of crazy things to happen. It's also not entirely uncommon.

memory as in my RAM? I did recently install another 2 GB, but I made sure it was the exact same RAM as the other ones in my laptop.

You should run Memtest86, look it up.

You can also try popping that stick of memory out and see if your problem goes away. I get bad memory from time to time and unfortunately the issue has seemed to increase in frequency as technology progresses.

Yeah. I'm waiting for stuff to finish transfering over to my external before I reboot and run Memtest86. What do I do if it gives me memory errors?

You yank sticks of RAM out and rerun the test. Try to identify which stick(s) of RAM are bad by a process of elimination.

that was fast, it takes me hours to run a full memtest.

Guess your next step is to try a fresh windows install and see if that helps.

yeah it only took a half hour to run 1 pass. The instructions say that 1 pass is plenty to find the main errors. It didn't show any errors in that pass, so I ended it. Multiple passes just does the same stuff over and over again it seems.

Overclocking the GPU could cause problems, but more likely you'd see artifacts or other problems rather than GSODs. Still I would run at stock clocks until you isolate the problem. Personally it does sound like a windows issue. Booting up into repair mode sounds more like an OS problem than anything.

all right I'm in recovery mode, and it gives me 3 options. Which one should I choose?

Recover Windows to first partition only.
    Recover Windows to entire HD.
Recover Windows to entire HD with 2 partition.

Now, I put in another HD before I rebooted. Which option would be best for both HDs?

Well I managed to do a fresh install. Odd that it wouldn't let me recover to the new HDD I put in. Oh well. I just partitioned the one I have so I can keep track of what I install. The new HDD will just be for my games then.
