Hey guys, just got my laptop back from Asus, and despite my primary hdd being replaced and reformatted so all of my drivers are back to stock, my second hdd not immediately being recognized by the computer, and my bios being updated to 211 (I was on 209, and would have liked to keep it there), everything seems to be running well.

I was going through all of the preinstalled stuff, to find that the majority of the bloat-ware (like those flash games and what not) were not reinstalled, instead I found besides the core programs, only Furmark was installed. Has anyone else had this happen? Where Furmark came preinstalled?

Also while im at it, I reinstalled my 6200 N, to find that when I connect to my router at the 5ghz frequency, im only getting 108mbps, instead of the rated 300, but when I connect to the regular 2.4ghz (N on both of course, Dir-825 router), I get the top speed of 150mbps. Unfortunately this is on a new router, so i cant determine if its the router of the wifi card, as my laptop is the only one in the house currently that supports dual band.

I agree. I bet a very smart tech did that to verify that the paste was good and the GPU was behaving. Furthermore, I'm betting that they are doing that because Gary told them to. He or she was probably supposed to remove that before shipping and forgot.

I guess thats possible lol I had no GSOD's on CCC 10.6 and bios 209, before I sent it in. Currently im on bios 211 and the stock drivers, I wont be able to test anything until later tonight, so we will see.

Forgot to ask if anyone knows why my 6200 N or Dlink Dir-825 router aren't playing nice.

Edit: @Jody, your probably right, since everything is updated except the video drivers

If you are running N at 5Ghz you will have a significantly shorter range, that might be the reason for the transmission rate of 108Mbit/s. You could test it by placing the G73 next to the wlan router.

@Gentech PC, heres the vbios string GPU Z gives me, not sure if its a newer one or not though
    012.017.000.004.035992

@bluecoala, thanks, thats probably the reason, Ill be sure to check that out.

    Edit

@rschauby, haha who knows, maybe he did

@Pistino, Ill let you know when I get off of the stock video drivers, because as of right now, I dont feel like going through the driver sweeper method to install the newest ati drivers successfully (as I had to do before I had to send my laptop back in)

looks a little different at the end, or you can go to the BIOS to see if it's the same as this one:

    Update:
Never mind, it's the same old vBIOS.

@Gentech, ya that would have been too good to be true

@bluecoala, you were correct, moving a little closer dramatically increased the speed up into the 250's

To anyone who cares, I ran furmark last night against my better judgement (for about 10 min, I know I know there are those who will argue thats not long enough, but I am not willing to go longer). It got up to 96 degrees Celsius and held. Also the program was preset to max burning mode and all of the extra goodies...

Played some SCII for about 2 hours, got up to 94 degrees max. Frames were a bit lower then normal. But thats probably because of my drivers.
