    Hi all,

So I just got a new G15 (rtx 3080), installed Win11 fresh and I'm getting pretty idle CPU temps with Performance power plan (default by Armour Crate), even though stress testing with Prime 95 the CPU doesn't go over 75C for some reason.

Here's a screenshot of Armour Crate, Edge and Spotify opened. That's it. It hovers around

If this is normal, due to sudden single core spikes etc, would it make sense to use something like Windows (which equates to Balanced) and reducing the Minimum Processor State from 100% to 5%?

I have a 9750H / GTX1650 and if you go into silent mode the temps should go down to ~40C idle. If you're still high then it's time to repaste or use a graphite pad. "idle" is different for everyone but, if you're sitting there w/ no apps open other than monitoring the temps you should be able to hit 40C or less.

Now, since you have a power hog 3080 it might be a bit higher since they will put off more heat into the chassis. In performance mode w/ graphite I tend to hover around 80C @ full load and 75C on the GPU @ full load.

Having played the temp / paste game for awhile now the first thing I would be doing besides setup is cleaning off the factory paste and putting the graphite pads on. I've been using them on my server now for a couple of years with consistent low temps +/- 5F from ambient temp and under load @ 120-130F. Laptop being smaller footprint I don't expect those numbers as noted above but, idla CPU/GPU go down to about 40C in silent mode (kicks CU down to ~2Ghz) / Performance Idle though is 50-60C. These are the pads I'm using on the CPU/GPU now https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BL3SCWH $10 for 1 or 2-pack for $15... no worries about drying out / air gaps / pump out. You can get 2-3 laptops of use from each pad as well. 3080 might be a bigger footprint to cover though so maybe a tad less out of each pad.

What you're seeing is, sadly, normal because the performance mode in Armoury Crate doesn't allow the CPU to properly downclock. You'll observe that your frequency stays above 3.5 GHz. Switch it to silent, and it should drop down to below 2.0 GHz at idle. I've never been able to figure out how to change this behavior. Even the usual registry edits to enable processor utilization within Windows performance plans has never worked.

Thats some high voltage too, is there no means to alter that?
