My laptop keyboard started having a problem a couple of days ago. After it's booted up, it looks like the "S" key is continuouly being held down. It goes to all the "S" folders, makes lots of "S"hortcuts when you try to get control of it. Also, most of the time if you press any other keys, the laptop will just turn off.

An external keyboard works fine, if you can get into Device Manager and uninstall the HID compliant keyboard. Tilting the keyboard up seemed to help sometimes also.

I'm thinking that the keyboard has gotten pressed down and is shorting things out. I found a thread about fixing flex in these keyboards by adding some padded tape underneath.

Do you think this is what the problem is, or do I just need a new keyboard?

    Thanks!

Sounds like a dying keyboard to me, I'd double check the internal ZIF connection is in place and see if reseating it helps (maybe it came a little loose?) but other than that, it's about a $30 fix:
