Following the 900p display (B140RTN03.0) upgrade thread [ here], we now know this much about LCD compatibility for the G46vw:

    - it uses an eDP connector (as opposed to LVDS)
    - the connector is 30-pin (as opposed to 40-pin)

chrous25 mentioned that AUO makes a 1080p variant of the panel that worked [ here], and this 1080p version, in turn, has 3 versions:

    - B140HAN01. 0
    - B140HAN01. 1
    - B140HAN01. 2

The problem was, the specsheets provided on that website did not mention the number of pins the connectors on these panels have.

So using these parameters, I looked around the net to find out which version has a 30-pin connector.

    Then I came across this:
    B140HAN01.1_LCD Panel_Studio Technology Co.,Ltd

Which states that the B140HAN01.1 has a 30-pin eDP connector, which, on paper, makes it suitable for the G46vw

However, a few things worry me:
    - 25ms response time that the same spec sheet lists
    - From the picture on that website, it looks like the connector is on the right-upper side of the panel. This is as opposed to it being on the bottom-right side of the panel.

I submitted an inquiry for price and asked about my concerns.

Subscribed to this thread. I would like to know how this turnsout.

I was gonna upgrade to the 900p screen next week, but I might wait a little bit until we get some info about this.

What I will try soon on mine is this screen Chi Mei Innolux N133HSE-EA1 it's edp 30 pin ips FDH it's a 13.3" and not 14.1 but a 13.3 is 11.4"W and 7.1"H a 14.1" is 12"W and 7.4"H so I will jsut mod the bezel a bit and will have one of the best laptop screen to date.

Got a price on the screen of 40$ US and 40$ shipping so 80$ I also found a laptop that had the display and it was reported as being a high end 14" screen and from just a picture it look's very nice. I asked questions also as the web sire I found with it with a 40pin connector so I asked if it was a eDP 30 pin and what side it's on.

    Which supplier did you contact?

    News: I'm blind.

Yea I've seen that site about the AMD prototype.
It initially added to my concern because on a prototype, it may be fine to have a 25ms delay on the screen to reduce price of manufacturing the prototype.

Prototypes will use any off the shelf components, they will use low volume parts if it's going to be tested at all, the cost wont matter on an individual unit.

I'm having trouble finding 30pin edp male-to-female extenders.

In this thread, some other ppl discuss the 30pin edp cable [ link]

However, the first poster in the thread seemed to have just made his own. I would prefer to not have to do that.

    EDIT:

By the way, the challenge of having the connector on the upper right is not only the length.
Because the connector is pointing away from the connector on the motherboard, the cable will have to bend 180 degrees at some point. So the cable must be flexible enough for that and work stably after being folded once.

Connector would be facing the same way just at the top of the LCD I am not worried there any way the seller is looking for an extension cable and will let me know if she can find one.

Also, can you inquire if shipping cost for 2 units is still $60 USD total?
I live in Toronto. I don't know whereabouts in Canada you are, but I wanted to raise the idea of bulk shipping and then reship/pickup from one of us.

    EDIT:

    Here's a website selling a 30pin edp cable for a whopping $50 [ link]
And here's the schematics and pinout for the cable [ link]

    EDIT 2:

I messaged CINDA TECH again, and they quoted my the same price, but didn't say they were out of stock.

    EDIT 3:

    They;re out of stock.

I'm glad there's laptops releasing with this screen in it though. The more common it is, the easier it would be to source the part.

I know this is an old thread, but I didn't think making a new topic about this was necessary.

Has there been any updates about a 1080p screen?

I use this company to upgrade my G46vw to an SSD and make the backlit keyword red (I was too lazy to do it myself). I didn't ask about the 1080p screen but they have good customer service.

Just checked out their website, it looks like the sell just the screen for this as well (currently $125): HIDevolution AUO B140HAN01.1 14" Full HD 1920x1080 72% NTSC Matte eDP 30 Pin LCD Display for Asus G46 G46VW

Not sure if it's a drop in replacement, but I'll likely be ordering this in the next month or so and I'll try to update this string then.

    Hi guys.
I'm also looking for a screen upgrade, preferably a FHD screen.
I have problem understanding if the 30pin eDP is a standard or if it vary from system to system (pin out)?
If it is standardized, then basically any 30pin eDP would do interface wise?

I've seen discussions about the 900P AUO B140RTN03.0 provided by HID, and people seems happy with it (even though the specs. tells me otherwise).
To my surprise, no one is speaking of the 8ms 1080P B140HTN01.2, which has similar specs. to the B14RTN03.0 but FHD. What do you think about this?
Only reason I'm mentioning this screen is because the only other FHD alternative I found so far is 25ms HAN0, which is not seem very 'gaming-friendly'.

For me the million dollar question is, would the Zbook14/420 g1 FHD screen be compatible with our system?
Of course I haven't been able to find any model number or information for this screen yet, but I'd imagine it has some nice specs.

    Thanks for any help!

EDIT: Here is table comparing specs. 1080P (proposed by me) VS. 900P (sold by HID) VS. 720P (system standard) VS. 1080P (sold by HID)

With EDP you should be fine so long as the connector is the right number of pins and it's physically the same size.
