G46vw wont detect Samsung 840 evo on bios PLEASE HELP!!!!!
You guys are my last hope I tried everything I can think of! So I decided to upgrade my laptop from a cosair 120gb SSD to a Samsung 840 evo SSD So I used their Migration tool installed the SSD to the laptop and it just boot it to bios Ok? so I decided to do a clean install same thing happens ok maybe is a faulty SSD so I install the SSD into my old hp laptop and it works so maybe is the Firmware I updated the SSD then Secure Clean the drive and put it back on the Asus laptop same thing happens straight to the bios. I notice the bios settings under SATA it didnt list my SSD menus were all empty So I checked if I had the latest bios which I did so I decided to try different old hard drives I had and the bios read every single harddrive except the Samsung SSD I also got this message from windows 8 install (This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk, ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in computer's Bios menu) I checked everything Im on ahci I just cant find the problem maybe you guys can help me please!!!!!!!!!!!! Ill buy one of you a beer or a scotch!!!!!!

I tried that and didn' work :( so far this what I tried

    Update Bios
    Update SSD Firmware
    2 Migration tools
    clean windows Installation
Installing windows in SSD on another computer and putting it back the ASUS
Trying 2 old HDD (which both HDD were fine)
    Downgrading Bios
Installing drivers on windows set up
    cleaning the drive through Command
    Formatting the Drive
Changing the setting from AHCI to IDE and Raid
    Booting versions of windows

Im out of ideas I talked to asus for hours with no solution When I install windows 8 I get enable disks controller in bios Installing windows 8 pro I get the SSD is not partition correctly So I tried solving each issue with no result

Don't use RAID, keep it AHCI.
Use diskpart to create a partition instead.
    clean [Enter]
    cre par pri [Enter]
    exit

Then see if your OS can detect the SSD properly this time.
Additionally, check and see if your SSD has a newer firmware update or not.

The partition didn't work. Yeah the SSD has the latest firmware I keep reading the partition error message happens when you have more than one harddrive (which I dont) or you have SD cards installed (i dont) or USB thumb drives which I have no CD drive so Im booting windows from a 2.0 USB thumb drive but I doubt thats the problem. My older HP Dv6z takes the SSD like a champ I dont even need to format or partition crap it installs right away. I'm thinking either the SSD is too new or Asus mess up the bios today i'm getting my old cosair force 3 SSD if it works then samsung need to patch up the drive.

Try a MLC-based SSD? I am thinking the same as you did, compatibility issue.

I had this one before it failed and had to get a replacement

Corsair Force 3 120gb MLC, Asynchronous NAND

    I tried installing
    Samsung 840evo 2nd generation 3-bit MLC SSD.
Corsair Force LS MLC, Toggle NAND

Maybe you can tell me the difference Thanks for your help also!

The only reason I can think of why the BIOS isn't detecting it must be because you didn't put the connector back in all the way... or you broke the small tab on the HD ribbon cable (without the small tab on top, it doesn't have enough pressure to make contact). Watch closely at the lights on the front of the machine while you press the power button. If the HD light doesn't flash AT ALL then the drive is not getting power and you should check your ribbon cable.

I think your problem is UEFI related check out this Guide Your SSD needs to be completely clean no partitions you will create a GPT partition during the OS Clean install. Your USB install media needs to be set up to boot UEFI.

Samsung SSD have worked for many Asus G series NB, if your having a SSD failure you need to get with Samsung tech support. I have read your Post here and on the ROG forum. I linked you to several guides on how to clean install. Macrium Reflect will clone your current HD to your new SSD with no problems.
