Wait, nvm, used google translator to translate. But, I guess the flashing won't work on OLED's I guess (It's not burnt-in, it's faded, is what I get).

    [EDIT] Wow, that's a ton of burn-in.

    It's SP2 combo, keys I'm using are 'CTRL+ALT+!'
please note '!' key is the one directly on the left of 'right shift' key, on my french keyboard.

SP1 is 'CTRL+ALT+:', located on the left of '!'
    No problem with this one.

please also note i'm using lcdhype 0.6.1.3. Could it be a problem ?

Edit : I just released my PipBoy2 Beta1 package, with multilang system (adding new language is really easy) and easy configurator (no need to read or modify a single line of code)
So, maybe, someone here would like to help with testing the english side of the script ?
I opened a English explanation thread, with everything needed. Please register and let me some comments, not just pick the script and leave... Your comments will be very helpful to terminate the final version and have something nice to give to the community

It's not the LCDHype version, that keyboard shortcut function is built in my driver. Try another keyboard shortcut different than Ctrl+Alt+! (the ! would really be a problem). I must admit that keyboard shortcuts are not implemented the best way, I originally made them for test purpose and when I released the driver I didn't give it much attention, cuz it just worked fine on my machine

    @fishyfish777

Google translation was ok to make the tutorial understandable ? oO
Do you have french basics ? I wanna know if you think I can make an english release with google traduction, or will it be too messy for people to understand how it works ?

Btw, did you managed to navigate through my script finally ?

If anyone has question about my script, I'm around, and I'll answer as far as my english permits it :p

Yes, google translate was readable enough. Broken english, but still readable after piecing words together.

Thank you for the script but that is, I fear, useless because my OLED's are not burnt in, rather worn.

Only way to fix this is to order a replacement...

Will I have to uninstall Direct Console to use HypeLCD? Uninstall DC mean I can't control the energy-consuming LED, overclock my CPU, and much more it's function.

Yes, you should uninstall DC2 to use LCDhype.
The only thing you cannot control is cover LEDS (not consuming so much power. You won't notice the difference).

Touchpad LED can be controlled via LCDhype, and Cpu overclocking can be done using SetFSB (see the relevant thread for more information about that : "G50v Overclocking/tweaking thread")

What else can you do with DC2 ? Nothing I think ;)

Oh, I want my G50Vt to last as long as possible, so I don't tend to overclock it. I know that LED consumes really low power, but it maybe annoying for somebodies around me. And about the touchpad LED? I haven't heard about it (my G50Vt is just coming), so can you (or anyone) explain me with some pictures?

Stouf, I'm using your 1.11.4 script, and I can't get it to work. I have Everest Ultimate edition running, with the everest plugin in the plugins folder, but the script still claims Everest isn't running. Is there something I'm missing?

The G50's have a blue light that goes around the entire touchpad... Its the same blue as the back of the screen.

Page 34 of this post tells how to disable that light...

I am using it with no problems.

It is a nice light but I dont try to show off the notebook and all its lights. :)

Like you I try to save as much power on it as I can.

I cant wait till the LED drivers are done and I can kill DirectConsole once and for all! haha

Did you set the shared memory resources (or something like that) in your Everest settings? I had the same problem until I made that change. If you look in the help file with the Everest plugin, it will tell you what (& how to) set.

Thanks, I installed it and it's working pretty good! I've only found a few problems:

    EDIT: Got Fraps working.

    1. NO DATA something is written over where my GPU temp is.

    2. I copied my network device names into the Companion, but I can't get proper stats. When I go to that screen, I see some data for a split second but then the traffic meter goes to numbers like "-144572.1kBs" and then the next second everything is "0.00"

EDIT: I have one serious issue: I have an E-SATA drive plugged in, and randomly LCDHype will throw an infinite loop error, and the E-SATA drive will be dropped from Windows detection. It only happens using the PipBoy script.

EVEN MORE EDIT: It's a very nice script, it just doesn't seem 100% stable. Twice I've had it randomly kill my E-SATA drive (I assume something to do with it tracking free space), once it froze my system for 30 seconds (everything came back, but the script was stuck and using 30% CPU power and needed to be restarted), and a couple times the script has randomly restarted itself.

Which screen ? It could be a translation problem (text needing more space in english), easy fix : opening and modifying the corresponding text in "en.lang"

You could try to put only a fraction of the adapter name (ex : 5100 for 'Intel wifi link 5100 AGN')

I have no ESATA drive so I couldn't test this, but is your ESATA drive letter the one you configured in the PipBoy for the external drive ?
If yes, change the letter in the PipBoy for a non used one (Z),
If no, try to onfigure the external drive parameter with ESATA's one...

I had to stop using LCDHype and go back to Direct Console because I kept getting massive system instability, including my E-SATA drive dropping from windows and games locking up. Anyone else encounter this?

I've just bought a G50VT-X5 and wanna customise the oled display... I just wanna know what scripting language LCDHype uses (spent about 45 mins looking for the answer) and also if I use LCDHype, can I still go back to using the Direct Console if I uninstall LCDHype?

    Thanks,
    Chunk.

LCDHype has his own language (don't know the exact expression in english), I'm not surprised you didn't found any answer to your question^^

If you have some french basics, you can check my script in my sig, it's a very complete one with much comments (I wrote it especially for people who don't know scripting under LCDHpye^^)

And of course, you can go back to direct console if you uninstall LCDHype, but I bet you won't after you tasted it ;)

PS : I'm working on an english version, but I don't know when I'll release it, I don't have much time to work on it... Once it's done, everything will be in english, even the comments in the script ;)

Thanks I'll take a look. I definatly want to change it cause it just doesn't show what I want it to show, and doesn't have the customization I'm used with things like that.

    Hi,

first of all: THANK YOU !!! Predator_MF & ViRuSTriNiTy

I'm the proud owner of a G50VT-B1 since a week.
Yesterday I was looking for a way to get some temperature stuff displayed on the OLED and found this forum.

After some scripting, testing and two ales :twitchy: I finally scripted this one.
Feel free to use it, change it ... whatever you like, but I did not made it robust yet.

It's only one page and you need Everest Ultimate as well as Fraps to run it.
To avoid "burned" OLCDs it simply inverts the display every minute (= 120 frames).

    Cheers
    Viper.MK

I just have the touchpad LED working, nothing else. Doesn't bother me much, I only see the touchpad one most of the time.

Just thought I'd post what I've been working on lately. Took me just an afternoon for most of it. I know some of you will ask for code, and I'll release it soon most likely.

    On the left:
Icon denoting if it's plugged in or not, which changes to a little battery icon when it's on battery power. The percentage changes to minutes remaining minus 5 (so you have time to plug in) under battery power. The whole screen inverts itself every second once it gets down to under 10 minutes remaining (well, technically 15 minutes).
The smiley face is a gauge of temperatures-- if any temps go beyond a certain point (GPU > 70C, CPU > 65C, HDD's > 45C) it turns into a frowny face. The temperature to the right of that is the GPU temp, which I just kind of threw in there for immediate reference.
Wireless status is above that. If you're operating at above wireless g-speeds, it adds a bar outline. The number is how many Mbps you're working at.

    Centered:
18-point font time for the blind and those people who come by and are like "Do you know what time it is? Ohhh it's 1:05. Wait you have a screen in your laptop?!" Date is underneath.

    On the right:
Dots light up to show how much CPU/RAM is being used at the given given moment. CPU has a dot subtracted from it, so you need like 15% CPU to light up the first dot.
The area between the dots is usually occupied by a little message saying that I like my girlfriend, but I think she'd want me to take that out before posting it to the interwebs. :p

Still have to work out a few things like what to do if Everest isn't running, but here you all are!

EDIT: I will re-post a bugfixed version of this soon.

You can have this one, which is slightly improved :)

Basically, it's very similar to the above...

If you press UP in LCD Keys (I changed them, I forgot what it was), the screen will change to the Main screen. Pressing DOWN will change to the WinAmp visualizer if WinAmp is playing. If WinAmp is not playing, it will revert to the Main screen.

    ===Main Screen (UP)===
-There is a line of code in the beginning of the script that turns off the touchpad LED. Deleting that line of code won't affect anything else if you like your touchpad blue.

    On the left:
-Power icon, battery status and estimated time left (minus 5 minutes so you have warning)
    -Wireless status
-When Everest is running: Smiley face indicates your temps are normal. GPU temp is displayed (as it's usually the hottest thing in the notebook, and the only one I really care about)
-When Everest isn't running: A little play/pause icon denotes whether there's a song playing or not.

    Centered:
    -Giant time and tiny date.

    On the right:
    -CPU and RAM usage dots.

    ===WinAmp Visualizer (DOWN)===
**NOTE: This module runs at a very high framerate (>30fps) and will burn anywhere from 10-30% CPU. You might want to switch to the Main screen if you're doing anything CPU intensive.**

    -Graphic visualizer and volume levels
-Displays in a side to side banner the Artist/Song/Album/Current Time. For some reason if it's a .wma file, the plugin won't read the song length, nor the album. Oh well.
    -Displays icons for shuffle/repeat/play status
-Song progress bar (doesn't work with .wma's for whatever reason)

-The touchpad also blinks to the volume of the music. I tried playing with some volume thresholds and varying levels of annoyingness, but you may want to tweak this yourself.

Special thanks to Predator_MF for everything he's done for all of us!

Here's the deal about the backled of G50...I found some time to think over the disassembled code again and I see how it works. It works as a DLL library, that when loaded, creates a thread that runs on the background. It does load a COM object inside that thread and I need to find out which one it is. Anyone having G50/70 with DirectConsole could help me, I need a list of all DLLs loaded by DirectConsole - that can be seen with Process Explorer - find the process in the list and press Ctrl+D, then export the list to text and send it to me

Also WinMAil.exe and OUTLOOK.exe are ejecuted by DC2!!

is this what you wanted us to do???

Anyway if you want/prefer i can easily get you full control of my computer to do all test that you want! i don't mind! it is a G50v laptop!
I would like to make my leds working with LCDHype!!
Since i found out your program i never use DC2 and you know how about pretty are the leds!!! i wouldnt like to lose these lights! xDDD

I hope that you can write the script for LCDHype to control the LEDs. Big kudos for everyone who is trying to give job to G-series OLED.

Well, first of all, thanks for everything you guys have been doing.I read the whole thread and was really hoping that by the end of it, the whole back leds would be solved. :))
But I see that there's still work to be done, so if you need any help with it, I'll be glad to be of assistance any way I can.I don't have any programming experience, but I do have a G50Vt-X1. :)) I'm gonna check this site regularly to see what are the updates.Kudos

    Thanks dude- nice and simple.

I modified it bit, made the bars a bit bigger and different spacing to fill out my OLED.

    Works great.
Thanks to all who are working on this.

I keep having problems with the display. The LCDHype icon at startup shows up perfectly, but all the scripts I tried end up all messed up. For example I loaded dtd00d's script (the 3rd one, measuring temperatures). Here's how it looks on the LCD.

That green preview box shows exact same pattern, so I guess it's not LCD dying but I'm missing something, or something is interfering. Direct Console 2 is uninstalled, and system was rebooted afterwards.

EDIT.: Solved the problem by installing a new version of LCDHype I found on that german site. Still many scripts don't work as they probably should but now it's not all chopped up and all characters are displayed correctly.

Ok I'm a bigger noob than any of you.

I don't know anything about programming. I want to turn off as many lights on my laptop as possible. touchpad, back lights, whatever.

I have the LCDhype program downloaded and installed. and I installed predators plugin for this specific laptop. once im in the program i have no idea what to do to turn off any lights.

    help for a noob? thanks!

This is done in the BIOS and is not part of the OLED unless it is in your script.

The startup sound can be disabled in bios and there are options as to what is shown on the screen during start up.

Thanks for the good work Dtood! I am having one or two problems with it though. the CPU, RAM, Date, and battery all work perfectly. But the time part is giving me trouble. There's no debug errors coming up, but it's not retreiving the hour properly from the system, and thus reverts to "12". I don't see how this could happen, since the minutes are working fine.

e.g. if it's 10:20 on my computer clock, LCD displays 12:20. Anybody have idea why this is?

Also, the "paused" sign doesn't change to a "play" sign in the main screen (I'm not using everest). When I try to initiate the winamp module, it works perfectly, for about half a second, then reverts to the main screen. I think this two problems are probably directly related.

(I have made a temporary work around the second problem by commenting out line 24 in the winamp module: )

You will can do that as soon as predator get fix his plugin for G50/g70 laptops.
Actually the only one which works it is the touchpad led!
    %UsePlugin('GLED\GLED.dll','LED', 2, 0/status/)
    %UsePlugin('GLED\GLED.dll','LED', 1, 0/status/)
    %UsePlugin('GLED\GLED.dll','LED', 0, 0/status/) <-- Touch pad!

with that and shuting down direct console you will have shiwth off lateral leds and the touch pad!

I don't know how to even put the scripts in, or to then turn it off once the scripts are in..
