I think that my G50V's fan is no longer working properly. It tends to be noisy and after playing a game like StarCraft 2 for a few minutes, my GPU hits 100C or above and then starts throttling. It idles pretty high too - 60C or so. The fan noise gets worse during gaming.
I've cleaned out the innards and done a repaste as well, but the heating issues have not been resolved. It's possible that I messed up the bearings by letting the fan spin while blowing compressed air. I tried searching for a replacement fan but it seems the manufacturer (Delta) doesn't even list the G50V fan model on their website and the ASUS e-store doesn't have it either. Is there any other fan that will work inside the G50V?
Thanks!

You can't destroy a bearing by spinning it with compressed air. Also, Ebay my friend, Do a search, I beleive you can use the g51/g60 fans as well. That is what I am going to be using on my G50v.
When was the last time you cleaned and repasted? My GPU never gets above 78C and I'm on games constantly. -
Was a problem for me recently. Ordered the fan from pchub per other folks on here to find it was to small. The only other one I could find was from acceport.com would not recommend them. Took a month to get and the box was in bad shape. It almost seems better/cheaper to buy the whole heatsink assy. Good Luck!

It seems that only the Forcecon fan is available anywhere. People are selling it as a replacement for the G50V but I don't think it's the right size: 55x55x12 mm versus 60x60x12 mm for the Delta fan. I don't see the heatsink assembly on the ASUS e-store either. Any place to buy the whole heatsink assembly new (apart from eBay, of course)?
I repasted last week when I cleaned out the fan (although it didn't have a lot of dust clogging anything). -
It is not the right size!!! Only one screw fits and you have to tape the rest down. works for a temporary solution, but nothing permanent.

You have to play around with it...depending on what screw you use and how you tape it down you will get some noise from the fan hitting....
AND ALSO!!! the plug is backwards!!! I had to cut the plug off the old fan and wire it to the new one...I was a pain!!!
It takes some trial and error, but I eventually got it....The OEM fan finally came in so Im back to normal now....
