Right so I use this monstrously old gaming laptop none of you have ever heard of ;) , it's called a G50VM-X1. Regardless of how old the laptop is, I've owned it for going on 2 years. Since I've gotten it, I've upgraded to win7 64bit vs the win vista it came with. I also added another hdd because this laptop is awesome like that supporting two hdd's. I've perused the forum for topics focused on more intensive upgrading of my laptop, and what can and can't be done. Apparently it is relatively well known that this laptop's cpu can be switched for any mobile P socket processor.

    Awesome I'll probably grab myself a T9900.

What I'm not sure of, is can my gpu be swapped? There are mixed reactions here on the forum(atleast the post google took me too) about whether or not this can be done. My laptop currently has the 9700m GT in it. Some people have claimed I can swap it for a GTX 260m.

My questions are: Can I swap the gpu? If so to what cards?

    and

What other modification, other than changing the thermal paste, will be necessary when changing the CPU, GPU, or both?

Thanks in advance for helping me make this old jalopy run like the high performance machine it once was.
