    Hi all-

I have a G50VT-X5 refurb got a year ago August. When I got the Windows 7 upgrade from Asus-I installed and was happy since.

The laptop isn't used much, and there is no "junk" on it, and am very careful where I go on line with it- as I maintain a web page with it. Over the last couple of months- I have noticed that upon cold boot all of my icons and desktop is large, and also that no touchpad drivers load. If I force power off and re-boot, upon second boot- I will have Nvidia drviers loaded and have normal desktop and icons, and my touchpad works.

Last night I loaded newer drivers of each than what I had- but no difference. I am also loading a laser mouse- so at least I can now reboot easily to get video corrected. I did look in Device Manager when first booted- and saw Yellow Marks next to each, but nothing meaningful listed as a problem or why.

What can I look for to figure out why this is happening?

    Thank You
    Chris

    Tried a couple of things...
Uninstalled Touchpad drivers, then went into bios and disable internal touch mechanism. Shutdown for 5 or 10 minutes, cold booted and same problem with video- huge icons and low res.

Uninstalled the latest Nvidia drivers(that were on Asus download site)- and shutdown. Unplugged, and then cold booted twice- Device manager recognizes the display as 9800M GS, and appears to be normal resolution.

Tommorrow I'll try installed Synaptics drivers and see if any difference, then I''ll try the Asus Nvidia drivers again. Still not sure whats up.

I booted up again cold boot- using the default Nvidia drivers and no touchpad drivers and it was fine.

I then installed Touchpad drivers, and then enabled internal pointing device in BIOS, and now I am back to having no pointer, and a low-res screen with huge icons.

    Help???
