I've been looking into upgrading my cpu(p8400) and possibly my ram from 4gb to 8gb. What would make the biggest impact?. I actually don't game on this laptop much anymore it primarily is used to photoshop, convert/make videos, and occasionally play mmo's. Right now I have the p8400 running at 2.7ghz stable with good temps. Would I benefit much going t a t9600 or even a t9900. Cheapest Ive seen the t9900 is a little over 300 and around 200 for the t9600.
I also was considering adding a SSD but i need about 500gb and i saw those are out now in SSD but very expensive.

My main reason for upgrading is my HD content. Editing, playing and converting are a little slow for me and i'm trying not to buy a whole new computer at the moment if i can get away with spending around 500 or so to upgrade this laptop. thanks

oh also I was looking at getting a intel 5300 wifi card to replace the 5100 does it matter if its the half height one?

well i know the t9900 can add about 15 FPS to most games, but idk about editing. usually, the g50VT isnt for editing HD. at least i dont think. but yes you would see a noticable difference with the t9900. or you could sell the g50vt for about $500 on ebay(yes they go for that), and now have $1000, to buy something or BUILD something better :)

I just got an E8335 (T9800) clocked as shown in sig. GTA4 and other physics-heavy games got better performance by as much as 40%+ (19fps to 28fps). Just Cause 2 benefited about 20%+ and a few other games are even snappier. Much more heat but I can push the fsb a bit higher since it has more voltage on the cpu. I can't speak for movies but I noticed photo editing significantly sped up, I can't decide if it's from the extra clockspeed or 3MB more cache. But editing photos in WLPG is incredibly faster.

A T9900 isn't worth it unless you get it super cheap. A T9600 isn't much different than a T9800 (10.5x vs 11.5x), and at ~$150 it's probably the best performance/$ you can get right now.

As for RAM I'm not sure, but I've heard people can't OC their FSB as far with 8GB vs 4GB of RAM.

You need a full height WiFi card. I put a 5300 in also but I'm not sure it's improved my signal/speed at all.
