I know the title might seem confusing because it is :p

I fried my GPU (actually it needs a reballing which is around 120$) but I found another one from a guy that took apart his laptop.

Problem is : mine was A03 his was 01 (used just the last figures for ease) and while with mine the laptop starts and shows nothing just the leds light up and stay like this forever with his it lights up and after 1 sec it shuts down. (always the same tried 10 times at least)

Assuming his graphics card is not broken is there a way I can make my BIOS recognize the different revision ?

Are you good at BIOS hacking? I really doubt you'll find someone that has experience in the same situation, but best of luck.

I dont get it why i tried 2 post 2 times and it didnt work.

anyway, I'm curious if it can be done since I dont have many other alternatives.

Has anyone ever tried something similar ? at least with different cards

You could try this: backup the VBIOS from your A03 and flash it to the 01. Be sure to backup the 01 VBIOS as well before proceding, in case it doesn't work. Be warned though, if it doesn't work, you risk of needing to blindflash the card back to it original VBIOS, and also risk of bricking it.

Ah, forgot about that, lol. Well, if the EEPROM chips that store the VBIOS are of the same model (probably true), and if you know how to solder, you could try swapping the chips. No guarantees, though.

was hopping for something more software oriented your idea sounds a bit to radical and the success rate seems a bit low lol (I'm not doing this for a living)

tks anyway, looks like reballing is the key in this case unfortunately then.

Well, since your laptop can't boot, a software solution would be even more difficult. :)
