Has anyone tried fitting the 1TB Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD10TPVT inside the G50VT yet? I'm hesitant in buying the hard drive because of its thickness and am afraid of whether or not it will fit in the laptop. Would save me lots of time if someone could provide feedback about their experience with this drive.

i don't think it will fit, i read somewhere the max height for the HDD is 10mm, most the drives that others put in were the 9.5mm
reading on the WD site it says this drive is the max 12.5mm
WD Scorpio Blue 1 TB SATA Hard Drives ( WD10TPVT ) -
Yeah, most standard hard drives are 9.5mm
The thing is that I've read in the G73 thread that someone managed to fit the drive in that laptop. This is why I'm wondering if it will also fit in the G50.
Also, does anyone know if the laptop can take over 1TB of space? Someone in the G72 thread mentioned "I read somewhere that this Computer can only support a max of 1TB. I think someone said you can only have two 500GB HD. I could be wrong and they might have updated the bios by now to support more." If this applies to the G72, then it might also apply to the G50. This seems odd because I've never heard about a limit on how much hard drive space you can have. It's like hooking up a 2TB to the eSata and the laptop not being able to pick that up. -
Any one else have any info on this or am I going to have to be the guinea pig?

Well I somehow won a G51VX on ebay, so I guess I'm going to have to be the guinea pig for that laptop. I called ASUS and they said that the G51VX should be able to support over 1TB of storage. Also I see xoticpc offering 1TB hard drives for the G51JX so I am assuming the hard drive will fit. I have ordered the hard drive and will let you guys know how it goes.

I will confirm that the Western Digital 1TB WD10TPVT hard drive does fit in ONE of the two HDD bays in the G51VX, meaning you can't have two of them in the laptop. Also, the hard drives work fine inside windows. I did have problems getting windows to boot off the hard drive in the second bay, but that was a BIOS issue and I got it fixed.

A while ago I posted something on this, it does support a 12.5mm hard drive in one bay only. http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/395976-g50-does-support-12mm-hdd.html
