Hi, I've searched every where for a solution to no avail, so I thought I'd try here.
Recently I ordered a used G50vt Motherboard to replace a faulty one (ac plug short?) and it worked fine, but the bios states that I need to change some of the cmos/bios settings. When I press F2 or even when I try to bypass it, I get prompted for a password. I have no idea what the password was, and I've asked the seller and they have no idea either.
I have tried removing the bios battery, I've tried various bios cleaning software and it seems to have no effect. I've tried a bunch of the ami master passwords. I even updated the bios to the newest version, and nothing seems to reset the bios at all. Is there anything else I can try?
I'm starting to think the bios chip is faulty. I can get the system to boot into windows on every boot by bypassing the errors and password prompts (irritating), but basically I can not make any changes to the bios, including the date and time.
Thanks in advance!

If you have nice soldering skills , i'd say desolder the old bios chip from your old mobo and resolder it to this mobo, that will fix the issue.

BIOS != CMOS. Replacing the BIOS chip won't do you any good.
Laptops aren't desktops either, you can't reset the CMOS to get rid of the password.
Trying master passwords will get you nowhere, since they change for each day of every year based on an algorithm.
Your only real chance is to either contact ASUS support and get them to give you the correct master password, or send the motherboard back to the seller.
