My notebook is overheating and I noticed that the fan is not spinning. I hooked up the fan to a 9 volt battery and it spins fine. The connector on the motherboard reads 5 volts so I'm assuming there's power to the fan.
How often do dc brushless fans die and what causes them to break down?
I should mention that the fan sometimes does start up but id say it fires up once every 5 times I boot the laptop. The fan is made by delta and the part number is kdb05105hb. I called delta here intoronto and they said theres a min order of 250... I also tries the asus estore website but could not find the part number in search. So Where could I order this fan from?

If you just need the fan a Forcecon DFS541305MH0T should work.

If the fan works when connected to a 9 v battery, would it be considered to be working correctly? What would cause it not to spin when connected to the laptop? I noticed there are 4 wires to the connector, red and black being 5v and ground, but whatare the yellow and blue for and what voltage should I be getting from these two wires? I would hate to replace the fan if it was actually something else causing it not to spin, possibly a motherboard issue?
Any help would be great thanks -
I couldn't find just the fan because I thought the last 4 digits of the model# was MHOT not MH0T! Zero
So, pchub has 3 different versions DFS541305MH0T parts
2 of which are 'bare' fans, and 1 of which is a 'round' fan. The 'round' fan is not the 0.5Amps that I have always seen this fan model# as, it is 0.6Amps and says 10CFM right on the label!
I hope it fits.
EDIT: Um, well it might just be 0.5A. The label on the website for the product shows 0.5A, but if I zoom in as far as I can on the image of the fan, it looks very close to 0.6A.
EDITEDIT:And the mold of the left fan, vs middle and right are different. I Believe pchub isn't labeling the items too well with 'bare' and 'round' since all the fans are round and all the fans are bare.
EDITEDITEDIT:: It is the right fan on that page. The fan left and middle one has 3 wires, the right-hand one has 4 wires, which is correct. I have ordered it and will see if it works out -
ickibar123 I'm looking for something to cool my overheating g50vt as well! Would be good to hear how it goes with the fan.
