I seem to be having an interesting issue with my laptop as of recently. I decided to upgrade my laptop from 2 320 gig hard drives running independently to 2 500 gig hard drives running in raid 0.

I should throw it out there that I haven't been having any issues with doing anything at all before making the upgrade. However, After the upgrade and putting the hard drives in raid 0 I cannot get the laptop to restart at all. Almost as if it just can't turn off the raid to initialize the restart. I should also stress the fact that I have NO problems shutting the laptop off. It is only a restart issue.

During the installation of windows 7 it would fail to restart and the lcd monitor would turn off as well as usb ports. The ring around the touchpad remained lit as well as the lcds under the power button, and the other 4 soft keys for the "other os" disable touchpad and the others.

Throughout the windows install I had to force the shut down with the power button. After the install the OS ran fine as well as shut down through the start menu just fine, but I noticed while doing updates I was forced with the restart thing still.

I just wanted to see if anyone else had this issue with restarting or am I the only one? Maybe it could just be the drives I'm using.

The only issue I had with RAID0 on the G50 was that I couldn't boot with an esata cable plugged in.

You might want to try updating your intel storage drivers, using the latest from downloadcenter.intel.com.

Forgot to throw in the fact that I did indeed try the storage update.

I am not sure that it is the most up to date version though.

Intel(R) ICH8M-E/ICH9M-E/PCHM SATA RAID Controller Driver version 8.9.2.1002

    Driver Date is : 8/7/2009

They gotta have something more up to date I would have thought.

Just thought I'd update saying that I am breaking the raid and starting fresh. I've read a few other posts stating there is no real world gains of doing raid 0 on the g50vt as the chipset that controls raid was never updated so it never got its full potential anyways.

Thanks to those that actually took a look at it though.
