This is message will hopefully grab the attention of forge or soviet sunrise.

I have the assu g51vx-rx05 model. Cut my own whole out with soldering iron and will be grilling it this week. However I've read many of the threads posted and can't seem to find where people are getting these heatsink blocks to attach to copper pipes and was wondering if I could get some links.

As well as thermal pads what conductivity do you suggest? I've seen a sheet of this stuff on digikey with 4.1m/k (I believe thats the measurement) of heat conductivity.

As for the copper shim Idea? I thought of doing it but I don't know where to start. I know a guy on ebay who will custom cut my size. However I'm not sure where to apply the copper shims (EG all of the components? or just northbridge, cpu, and gpu, OR all the components (the vram chips and stuff)).

If you guys have a measurements list of the copper shims that would be great.

I run 100-102 c in furmark with cover off and a huge home fan blowing underneath it. I've replaced the thermal pad under cpu and gpu with AS5(and 2 parts of cpu where thermal pad fell off). I'll also note that some of the thermal pads have random cat hairs on them :).

However furmark is a benchmark. Counter strike and Garrys mod dont go past 70 on some realitively high settings.

Suggestions greatly appreciated before I make my next buy of parts.

I would never expect Counter Strike or anything based on the source engine to make me even bother checking my temperatures. The game doesnt require a whole lot of anything to run it anyways.

GRiD max'd out produces a good 90ish on my older G50 and with your 260M it should make some nice heat. Far Cry 2 is alright as well as Crysis at making heat. Other than a few of those games most others don't make the heat the stress tests show. Only time they seem to is like say FEAR if i dont frame limit when its making 100+ fps makes more heat then needed.

With the 260M 100C is obtainable but unless thats what your running all day long I am not sure why you are worried, you have already mentioned playing a game that doesnt push the temperatures into any worry zone of sorts.

im gonna start my own thread on the modding too.just waiting for all the key pieces to
complete (copper heatsink,my newly ordered T9600,Tuniq TX-3,and 3M Thermal Pad).
the copper heatsink will arrive somewhere between next week along with Tuniq TX-3 and
    3M Thermal Pad.my T9600 ETA in 2 weeks.hopefully when everythings in place,i shall start
with the mod including the grill which can be easily obtain through local hardware store.

oh btw,i calculated the suitable copper heatsink(or ram heatsink to be precise)
    L x W x H is about 13mm X 12mm X 4mm .that should give enough clearence from the backplate.

if you were wondering where did i ordered the copper heatsink,it was from my local
hardware store and not online.hopefully you can gather your item soon!
