Trying to install Win7 with a pair of Seagate Hybrid 500GB drives. I setup RAID 1 (mirror) in the BIOS but during Win7 installation it says it can not boot from that drive and will not install to it. I tried to find RAID drivers I can provide to Win7 during the install but no luck. ASUS tech support was pretty useless, they were wanting me to do software RAID.
I undid the RAID array and restored an image to the 1st drive with Clonezilla. It's boots into Windows no problem. But when I setup the RAID 1 again it says all data will be erased.
So the question is what's the process for installing Win7 when the G51 is setup in RAID 1?
Thanks in advance, I've spent about 8 hours today already on this.

Well ASUS wasn't so useless after all. The tech mentioned swapping hard drives between the 2 bays. I didn't see how that would help but it did. Got an error on the 1st Win7 install but went back and tried again. It took over an hour to uncompress all the files but it finally installed. Putting all the ASUS drives on now and everything is good. Win7 starts up in normal time.

Can yo get your backup app to run from a bootable USB stick? If so, then put the image on a USB HDD, setup your RAID, then transpose the image to the new RAID setup.
EDIT: Glad you got it working
