i have registered in this forum hoping to get a help and fix my laptop G51J. its been 2 weeks since i have been trying to fix it. when a switch on laptop only displays the lights, and i can hear the CD ROM switching on sound. its like a click sound which we usually gets in all the laptops. the lights stays on. but their is no display or fan rotation. i have unscrewed it and checked if it receives the electric current.
after unscrewing i tested all the parts, including motherboard, graphics card, RAM and the processor. everything is fine and gets electricity when its switched on. i changed the laptop RAM and the Fan. but still their is no change. the last thing that i thought was it could be a BIOS issue. so i unplugged the bios battery, and separated everything including graphics card processor RAM and the WiFi card and kept every piece of the laptop separately for 2 days. this is to drain out any access electric current in those parts. but after this also im unable to find the problem. i have registered in this forum to find a person who could help me to find the defected part in my laptop. thank you in advance.

What were you doing with it before it started malfunctioning? Any recent odd behaviour? The GPU is the primary suspect simply due to the era of the machine.

it was normal. no suspicious behavior found. i have tried to switch it on without the GPU also. but it remains the same. only the lights are on. what i think is without the GPU also the laptop fan should spin.?? am i right in this ???...

What happens if you press the button with no CPU installed?

It could be a dead chip on the board preventing booting.
