ok so I just got a G51JX-X2 notebook today and I did a clean install of Win 7 Pro 64bit. I have all drivers installed from the ASUS site in the order that Rexrzer727 advised. Now my problem is that after I have installed everything I am having a Unkown Driver in my hardware manager. When I goto the properties for it this is what I get.

    USB\VID_04F2&PID_B106&REV_8915&MI_00
    USB\VID_04F2&PID_B106&MI_00

I did a search on Google for it and it came up USB 2.0 2.0M UVC WebCam. I tried to install the driver for it that I searched for (Windows 7 64bit) and when I did it says that Windows found the driver software for you device but encountered an error while trying to install it. Driver is not intended for this platform.

Can anyone help with this problem that I am having???

I have the same camera on my G73 and use the Chicony CNF7246 driver. It's available from Asus support downloads.

The CNF7129 works as well. Microsoft provides a generic driver that works too if you uninstall all other drivers for the camera.

    But I'd use the CNF7246.

Note: I'm not sure, but this may be the driver discussed here a while back that can sometimes take a couple tries to install. It does install though. Can't find the old posts on the subject...

well I have tried to uninstall the device and then reinstall it with the driver CNF7246 that you recommended but I still get the same error. This is what it shows me after I tried to reinstall the driver.

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

this is my problem with location device: Port_#0002.Hub_#0003
this happened after i applied new thermal paste :( rechecked the cables everything seems to be in place but it can it be due to the cable being damaged?

    Quick update:

i removed and re-entered the cable, had the usb device uninstall, and automatically it installed microsoft's video software for the webcam. However, i still cannot install the driver provided by asus.

Is there any driver installed for the camera when you look in device manager?

ok, Somehow it installed the Microsoft Drivers from 6/5/2009 I tried to install the CNF7129 and 7246 and it says Driver conflict and is not intended for this device or something in those lines and stays with the Microsoft drivers.

When I tested it, that Microsoft driver worked fine. I develop software that works with cameras so I have lots of test beds. Cool thing is it's a decent OEM camera model unlike some of the bad models that get installed on some G73s (they don't use the same on all).

    Back to the driver...

What happens if, using device manager, you uninstall that driver, then without rebooting, try to install the 7246 driver?

If that doesn't work, what about uninstalling any existing driver using device manager but choose the "delete the driver software for this device" option?

Well I tried uninstalling any existing driver using device manager but choose the "delete the driver software for this device" option and still the same result. I also tried to do the other one with the 7246 Driver and it would not install that at all. It shows it working and the Microsoft driver is installed but I cant get the camera to come on and work. Do I need a specific software for it? I did a clean install of the Win 7 OS and went to ASUS site for the dirvers.
