Hi, I'm getting a g51jx-x5 today because of a $200 off sale at CanadaComputers. It comes out at $1299 CDN. I really have to decide today so It'd be awesome if you guys can help me with my concerns.

The first one is throttling, what is this exactly? And was it fixed? I've also heard there were BSODs? My final concern is cooling. They say the laptop is hot as is, mine comes with i7 so it should be even hotter and on top of that, would be turbo mode, isn't it going to run super hot? I usually put it on a surface, not my lap but I'm always worried about my computers getting too hot that it withers longevity or even melt gpus or motherboards. A link to discussions would be fine too, thanks for your time.

    throttling: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...asus-g51j-x-cpu-throttling-investigation.html
download http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/3/3/1794507/ThrottleStop.zip. run it, go into options, check off "unlock BD PROCHOT", uncheck "BD PROCHOT" on main screen, minimize and enjoy. you can also change it to start minimized in options and put a shortcut in Startup. the throttling is a problem in BFBC2 and SC2, and probably any future games that use a good amount of CPU and GPU combined.

BSOD's were afaik problems affecting individual systems, but idk the exact status on that. maybe a g51jx owner can clear it up.

unless you see the GPU hit 102 or 105c in hwmonitor, don't worry about temps. RMA if it does.
