I think it might be the headphone jack but also not sure. I've unplugged/replugged many times and it hasn't fixed it. I've also tried to push it back into place with a paper clip and no luck. Is there any way i can open up my notebook to get easier access to the headphone jack?

Not really. You'd be able to get at the audio board to replace it, but opening it isn't going to give you better access inside the jack. See the sticky and search for headphone for more ideas -- some registry tweaks, etc.

I have warranty still but I also need this laptop for schoolwork. How long will it take them to fix this? I have a local asus center in my city, is a one day fix possible or are we talking about a motherboard replacement here?

If you're still under warranty, set up an RMA with the local center. You can call them directly and talk to their ASUS repair tech who can issue the RMA after you give them your serial #. Explain to them that you need the computer and that you'd like to have the part ordered and be notified when it arrives. They may be confused but explain it to them clearly - that you will bring the computer in for repairs when the part arrives. I can speak from experience that although this falls under a 'special request' type of thing, that it's entirely possible to have your computer turned around in 1 day for a simple repair like this. If you need further help don't hesitate to ask here.

are these headphone jacks cheaply made or what? Why is this problem so frequent in g50's
G51Jx no sound from speakers.
