Thus, I cannot get my laptop's internal speakers to output sound.

I'm sure of this because the computer still indicates it's outputting sound, and the Realtek icon that pops up to indicate plugging and unplugging doesn't do so when I plug/unplug my headphone jack.

Any quick fix for this? Or do I actually have to send this thing in?

Try an uninstall and reinstall of all Realtek sound drivers. If it doesn't work, check to make sure there's nothing in the port affecting the contacts. If that doesn't work, it's RMA time.

It was doing this before I actually installed the Realtek drivers for ASUS. I had been running off of generic system drivers ever since I installed Windows 7 until after the problem existed. In essence, I already tried doing that.

As for the potential blockage, I'll check it out. Thanks. :)

Another post on this issue. I just made a post on another thread on how I've been handling this. Not the best way I'm sure but it works for now.

Thank you! I must ask here as well as in the other threads, the regedit fix that forces speakers to play regardless: if I switch the sound output between USB and analog in the software settings, will the speakers still play when in USB mode? Because now, I spend most time in USB mode and would have to change the settings if the speakers worked anyway, so I'm fine with that as long as the speakers don't sound when the USB device is the default device.

Has anyone had luck with using regedit
AND then using a usb sound device?
Does the USB sound device turn off the "on board" speakers after using Regedit to ignore the jack?

    Ditto for Bluetooth?
