Almost 4yrs to the date of my first post in this thread I finally succeeded in installing a full HD (1920*1080) display. I recently realized my G51VX-RX-05 (best buy edition) was almost 5yrs old and was still going strong. I just finished Bioshock Infinite on it (twice!). So I checked back here and yes the HD problem has been solved. I had already upgraded my HDD to an SSD. SO this week I updated to 8Gb of ram (200 pin PC2-6400 DDR2-800 SoDIMM dual channel, 4Gb*2), updated the processor to an Intel T9900 and got a FHD ready dual link cable. The details of the LCD panel and cable are below for anyone still interested.
    LCD Panel - B156HW01 v.7
    LVDS cable part number: 1422-00K6000
I think this system might last me another 5yrs... Good times.......
